Role and Responsibilities

The Chief Engineer will be working with the Connectivity Standards part of Standards group at SRI-B. The individual’s role is to drive and develop next generation Wi-Fi MAC protocol standards in Global standard bodies like IEEE, Wi-Fi alliance. The individual should be technically capable of articulating Samsung position towards standardization of WLAN Technology in IEEE (For ex: 802.11ax/be/bf/bn), Wi-Fi Alliance (For ex: Wi-Fi 6/7/8, Wi-Fi sensing), developing standards contributions & quickly establishing relationships with a wide variety of people. This position will require working closely with our local and global Business Units (BUs), our global Standard team, Operators, Academia, and Industry Associations, to drive Samsung’s global standards objectives & strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for research and development Wi-Fi MAC standards including requirements analysis, architecture and development of technical specifications.
• Responsible for representing Samsung in various Task groups and work groups in standardization forums (IEEE, Wi-Fi Alliance) attending the weekly conference calls, F2F meetings,
• Prototyping and simulation support when needed
• Close interaction with cross-teams within the organization to align emerging standards with internal product roadmaps

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years / Master’s degree with at least 5 years / PhD with at least 3 years of experience in Wi-Fi systems engineering
• In-depth knowledge in Wi-Fi standards (Wi-Fi 6/7, 802.11 ax/be), Wi-Fi MAC protocols
• Hands on experience with Wi-Fi systems development (PHY, Firmware, system engineering in Wi-Fi)
• Experience in simulation software like MATLAB, NS3 is a plus
• Prior experience in preparing standards/research contributions and/or participation in Wi-Fi standardization is a plus
• Good communication and presentation skills, problem-solving abilities
