Gibbs and Cox is seeking a Naval Piping Senior Designer to join our organization.

Location: Newport News, VA

As a member of our highly collaborative multidisciplinary Ship Design team, you will be responsible for producing detailed distributive piping ship systems designs, diagrams, 3D models, and 2D drawings for ship construction and modification using requirement documents. Which would include ship specifications, standards and regulatory body requirements as defined in the requirements sections for Naval, Coast Guard, and Commercial ships. Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Preparing accurate and detailed designs, free form surface models and/or drawings based on concept sketches, photographs, scans or clearly stated functional requirements.

  • Working closely with our clients, naval architects and engineers, as well as, with design team members to produce high quality, detail ship design products and drawings.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

  • Education: Associates Degree or 2 Years of relevant experience in lieu of an Associate's Degree.

  • Experience: 5(+) Years of experience translating specification requirements and incorporating standards, requirements, design practices and techniques into detailed ship design, drawings and other finished design products distributive ship piping systems.

  • Must have Piping Design experience on Naval and/or commercial Shipbuilding programs

  • ShipConstructor experience is required.

  • Experience developing Detail Drawing Extractions from ShipConstructor.

  • Must have experience with PDF Editing Programs (Bluebeam Preferred)

  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD 2014 or later is required.

  • Proficiency in 3-D modeling is required.

  • Knowledge of standards and regulatory body requirements is a plus.

  • Demonstrated proficiency of drafting methods, procedures and techniques.

  • Experience in drafting methods, procedures and techniques.

  • Must be able to work some overtime as required.

  • Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills Required.

  • Excellent Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.

  • Strong Time Management and Organization Skills as an Independent Contributor.

  • Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills as a member of a Collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
