As a Senior Corporate Strategist on our Corporate Strategy team, you’ll advance our innovative diagnostic and information technology-based solutions for veterinarians, livestock producers, and pet owners. Executing strategies that oversee more than 10,000 people operate in over 170 countries, you’ll facilitate and drive critical decision-making through discrete strategic projects and analysis. 

Location: You will need to be within a reasonable driving distance to Westbrook, Maine. This is a hybrid position, with the expectation that you'll be onsite at our Westbrook Headquarters 2-3 days a week.

The work you’ll lead:

As a key member of the Corporate Strategy Team, you will advance the corporate strategy efforts, including assisting with facilitation of the corporate strategic planning process, and driving discrete strategic projects and global and regional market analyses. Leveraging proprietary data sets, you will model and transform this data into important business insights that drive critical decision-making across the organization. You will also collaborate as part of a cross-functional team to produce findings that shape IDEXX’s overall strategy.

  • Strategic Projects and Initiatives: Wrestle with and solve ambiguous problems for our business, our customers, and the markets we play in (and how to win!), especially in technical and emerging adjacent markets.
  • End-to-End Project Management: Drive high-priority strategic projects, including adjacent market assessments, and cross-functional initiatives aimed at delivering business growth. End-to-end responsibilities include structuring complex business problems, analyzing and synthesizing relevant data, project scoping, project design, project management, execution, and delivery of recommendations.
  • Market Analysis: Maintain and update key annual market analyses, as well as frame and execute creative discrete market analyses. These include analyses on customers, competitors, suppliers, distributors, technologies, and potential industry entrants to support ad-hoc line of business and corporate strategy development.
  • Data Analysis and Financial Acumen: Develop rigorous statistical analyses and financial models to estimate market sizing opportunities (e.g., adjacencies, expansion).
  • Strategic Insights and Recommendations: Translate market insights into actionable recommendations for senior leadership, supporting strategic planning, product development, pricing strategies, and market expansion efforts.
  • Strategic Planning Process: Co-lead the enterprise strategic planning process and execution. Collaborate with teams on their strategic plans' storyboarding, analytics, as needed.
  • Board Support: Assist in developing content and materials for Board presentations, including strategy updates and projects and/or initiatives related to critical questions posed by the Board.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interact with, influence, and build strong relationships with leaders across the lines of business and/or regions (Europe, APAC) to address priority strategy questions facing their businesses. In addition, collaborate with the Investor Relations team on content development for investor communications and presentations
  • Team Leadership and Development: Mentor junior Corporate Strategy team members by fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth mindset, collaboration, and innovation.

What you’ve done:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a consulting firm preferred.
  • Direct experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, or related roles, preferably in the retail or consumer product industry.
  • Proven track record of:
    • Leading strategic projects and initiatives, with a strong understanding of strategic planning methodologies and frameworks.
    • Distilling complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
    • Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and recommendations to senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Critical thinking, anticipating market trends, and identify opportunities for business growth and differentiation.
    • Adapting quickly to changing resource requirements, getting the most out of available resources and being creative in sourcing resources.
  • Prioritize workload, and manage multiple deliverables
  • Partner with business leaders and apply a long-term perspective to strategic positioning of IDEXX businesses
  • Strong financial modeling skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, in particular PowerPoint and Excel
