Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As the Associate, Trade Finance Solutions, you will support the delivery and growth of Trade Finance and Working Capital solutions within RBC Commercial Banking. You will work closely with Trade Finance Sales Managers, Relationship Managers, Credit, Operations, Legal and Compliance partners to support client deal execution and deliver a high-quality client experience.

This role provides exposure to a broad range of trade finance products, client segments, and internal stakeholders, while serving as a strong development platform for future advancement within Trade Finance or Commercial Banking. You will contribute analytical, administrative, and deal execution support to ensure transactions are completed accurately, efficiency, and in accordance with RBC’s risk and compliance standards.

What will you do?

  • Provide sales and execution support to Trade Finance sales leads and Relationship Managers by preparing pitch materials, product overviews, and client-specific trade finance solutions.

  • Assist in coordinating client meetings, preparing meeting materials, capturing notes, and following up on actions.

  • Conduct working capital analysis and profitability calculations to support client decisions and deal structuring.

  • Support end-to-end execution of trade finance transactions, including client onboarding, documentation, and coordination with internal partners.

  • Review, compile, and track documentation requirements for trade transactions

  • Support preparation of credit submissions and assist with internal approval processes.

  • Update systems with opportunity details, client engagement notes, and pipeline activity.

  • Track deal milestones and support execution workflows to ensure timely completion and client satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with Credit, Product, Legal, Operations and Compliance teams to support transaction execution.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audit readiness and regulatory requirements.

  • Actively build foundational trade finance knowledge to contribute to internal and client discussions on product use cases.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics or a related field.

  • 2-4+ years of experience in client facing roles preferably in commercial or corporate banking

  • Foundational understanding of financial products, credit principles, and commercial banking concepts.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong organizational, communication and stakeholder coordination skills.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to review documentation and identify issues or gaps.

  • Proactive, curious, and client-focused approach to work.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly serve our clients with English and French-speaking needs.

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to Trade Finance, Working Capital, or Commercial Banking

  • Trade finance certification, CFA, CPA or other relevant professional designation

  • Internship or co-op experience in financial services or banking.
