Job Description:

We’re looking for a Senior ML Platform Engineer to join our ML Toolchain team, the team

building the foundational tooling that enables machine learning at scale across King. You’ll play a key role in designing and building a modern, developer-friendly ML platform on top of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and a suite of open-source tools.

The platform is primarily built in Python, exposing APIs and a front-end to support ML practitioners across the company. As an engineer in this team, you'll work across infrastructure and software boundaries, driving the platform's evolution with a focus on usability, scalability, and reliability.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build scalable backend services in Python using frameworks like FastAPI and SQLAlchemy
• Implement DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Infrastructure as Code
• Contribute to the design, deployment, and management of cloud-native infrastructure (in GCP)
• Work with Kubernetes, containers, and orchestration tools to deliver a robust ML platform
• Collaborate closely with ML engineers and researchers to understand their needs and translate them into usable tools and services
• Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and knowledge sharing
• Help evolve and shape the future of King’s ML platform

Must-Have Skills

• Strong Python engineering skills with experience designing and maintaining APIs and backend services
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g. CI/CD, monitoring,
• observability)
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP
• Experience with frameworks like FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, or similar

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with MLOps and machine learning pipelines
• Familiarity with tools like Terraform, Crossplane, Argo CD, Argo Workflows, and Dex
• Exposure to GCP services such as GKE, Dataproc, or Vertex AI
• Experience with MLFlow or other model tracking systems
• Some familiarity with frontend development (e.g. React and TypeScript) is a plus
