Assistant Vice President II – American General Life Insurance Company (Chicago, IL):

Assess the needs of each business and ensure that all operational activities are directed towards meeting goals and service levels. Ensure all changes are planned, tested, and follow the change management procedures. Ensure that OnPrem and the Cloud application platform and middleware are properly patched, monitored, and maintained. Work with the Application Support team and Life & Retirement (L&R) architecture team to shape a clear technology lifecycle strategy. Participate in disaster recovery efforts, ensuring redundancy of all middleware infrastructure platforms to mitigate major business losses in the event of disaster outages. Build and maintain a strong IT control and secure environment, ensuring privileged access is only granted to individuals with an approved role. Work with IT Risk and Compliance to ensure security and compliance standards are followed, as well as respond to internal and external audits. Plan future infrastructure and propose new directions and technologies. Participate in setting technical standards and driving migration efforts for the future technology infrastructure. Lead the creation and automation of operational processes and procedures. Provide management with metrics to facilitate capacity, resource planning, continuous process improvement, and adoption of Site Reliability Engineering practices. Ensure that all technologies follow operational standards and that proper training of multiple individuals takes place prior to production rollout and support. Conduct performance tuning and improvement of business applications. Perform general application troubleshooting and resolution during system unavailability. Interact with application stakeholders and Infrastructure teams. Work with middleware technologies; WebSphere; IBM MQ; IBM DataPower; Solution architect skillsets; IT Engineering; and vulnerability management.

Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field of study, plus three (3) years of experience with middleware technologies; WebSphere; IBM MQ; IBM DataPower; and vulnerability management. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field of study, plus five (5) years of experience with middleware technologies; WebSphere; IBM MQ; IBM DataPower; and vulnerability management.
