Job Description:

  • Permanent, full-time position

The Health Information Service (HIS) is essential for the management, organisation, and distribution of health-related data. HIS aim to enhance the efficiency of healthcare delivery by ensuring accurate and timely access to relevant information.

You excel in both collaborative and independent work, fostering positive relationships and strong communication networks with your stakeholders.

Reporting to the National Information Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the national coding education program and establishment of a national trainee coder education program.

You will:

  • Provide coding education & training to the coding team
  • Conduct coding audits and feedback findings to the coding team
  • Work with GHFT auditors to feedback results to the coding team
  • Develop and implement documentation improvement initiatives
  • Establish and oversee a trainee coder program
  • Maintain the Coding Central Teams page
  • Liaise with HIS Managers and GHFT Auditors on all coding related matters
  • Act as subject matter expert for all coding related software updates/implementations

  • Eligible for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in Managing Internal and External Coding and Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) Audits and Delivering Coding Education
  • Extensive experience in ICD-10 AM Coding and DRG assignment
  • Ability to implement standard and consistent workflows and work practices across several hospitals
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders in coding and documentation requirements
  • Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent), desired but not essential
  • A valid National Police Clearance, or willing to obtain
