Technical Architect, Salesforce Engineering 

The Technical Architect will be responsible for providing the overall guidance and structure for creating and maintaining the designs for the main services of the company ensuring the required business outcomes are delivered. This role will play a critical part in defining the architecture and roadmap for new services, platform and application products, relevant to internal facing applications, data and workflows, alongside the portfolio of Salesforce products such as Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Data Cloud, Mulesoft, Slack and other areas. 

This lead role will solution critical aspects of the product to bring in new innovative ways to integrate both Salesforce products and in market requirements. Being aware of industry standard processes, customer requirements and architecting the design to deliver the best solution to the customer will be part of this role. Although this role does not require direct coding, knowledge of various scripting languages, solutioning designs using the right toolset will be part of this role. As a Technical architect on this product to roll out to customers will require ongoing partnerships across Salesforce to iteratively build and transform. 

Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead product delivery and drive strategic transformation at different levels of scale throughout the enterprise 

  • Demonstrated ability to architect applications and services for the enterprise, including service level and performance requirements 

  • Demonstrated availability to enhance, integrate, and advance existing applications and services, while maintaining or improving existing architecture, service levels, and security standards 

  • Solution mindset, strong communication and collaboration skills are important success factors  

  • Domain expertise in some or all of ITIL, ITSM, ITOPS, COBIT, Incident Management, Change Management, Employee Self-Service, and relevant technology landscape is a must have for this position 

  • Understanding of Technical languages such as Python, C, Java etc

  • Knowledge of Cloud based architectures and data models

  • Familiarity with relevant platforms- Salesforce, MoveWorks, Slack, ServiceNow, OpenText- a plus 


 

Job Activities 

  • Designs and drives the end-to-end architecture of products

  • Crafts overall architectural principles, frameworks, and standards

  • Creates solutions that are enterprise scalable and maintainable

  • Drives strategic technology initiatives, working with Product Managers, other Architects,, Engineers, SME's and the broader Salesforce organization

  • Works in a consultative fashion to improve communication, teamwork and alignment among teams inside and outside of the organization

  • Analyzes and provides feedback on product strategy

  • Provides input into long-range product requirements, standard methodologies, and operational guidelines, with focus on continuous improvement of platform reliability and serviceability

  • Drives research, case studies, and prototypes on innovative technologies and how they can be used

  • Ensures that we are continuously raising our standard of engineering excellence

  • Participates in the team’s on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available

General Requirements 

  • Mastery in multiple programming languages and platforms

  • 15+ years of software development experience

  • Ability to independently craft and deliver large sophisticated projects

  • Ability to provide (informal) mentorship to team members to support their understanding of the architecture and aid in their technical development

  • Experience with Agile development methodology (e.g., Scrum)

  • Ability to work with other architects, principal architects, product leadership, TPM and Chief Technology Officers to craft the architectural vision and roadmap for the organization

  • Develops technical performance architecture that solves most complex performance issues

  • Ability to drive long-term design strategies that span multiple complex projects, deliver technical reports and performance presentations to customers and at industry events

  • Ability to build an environment for clear and open discussion of all issues: You involve the right people, from your team and others, to resolve critical issues

  • Experience in short release cycles, the full software lifecycle. Some roles require experience on a product that was released for public consumption across multiple releases

  • A related technical degree required

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $204,400 to $296,400.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $223,000 to $323,400.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
