Dow has an opportunity as Accounting Specialist, based in São Paulo, SP.

About you and this role - What you would do in this role 

This position plays a key role in ensuring the overall accuracy and integrity of the financial statements and supports the management and the Entity Accounting Leader in Financial and Statutory Accounting."

Responsibilities

• Ensure all accounting activities recorded in company books are accurate, complete, and compliant with GAAP and IFRS standards.

• Participate in core accounting functions, including:

• General ledger maintenance

• Financial scorecard review

• US GAAP to local statutory conversion

• Reconciliations and compliance with operational policies

• Prepare financial statement footnotes and supporting schedules.

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.

• Implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure proper execution of transactions.

• Perform fluctuation analysis and financial statement analytics, providing meaningful explanations to senior management.

• Document and implement internal controls as required by SOX.

• Participate in process improvement and streamlining initiatives.

• Lead annual financial audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, including preparation and review of schedules.

• Coordinate closely with other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accruals.

• Support leadership with accounting analysis and unusual transactions.

• Lead accounting projects, including M&A activities.

• Contribute to budgeting, cost analysis, and financial estimates.

• Perform product costing, inventory reviews, and fixed asset reviews.

• Educate internal partners on accounting policies and internal controls, resolving issues as they arise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

• Advanced English and Spanish (preferred).

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting standards (Argentinean GAAP) and applicable accounting rules and regulations;

• Experience with SAP.

• 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry.

• Proven ability to prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Knowledge of FASB, SEC requirements, SOX compliance, and best accounting practices.​
