Dow has an opportunity as Accounting Specialist, based in São Paulo, SP.
About you and this role - What you would do in this role
This position plays a key role in ensuring the overall accuracy and integrity of the financial statements and supports the management and the Entity Accounting Leader in Financial and Statutory Accounting."
Responsibilities
Ensure all accounting activities recorded in company books are accurate, complete, and compliant with GAAP and IFRS standards.
Participate in core accounting functions, including:
General ledger maintenance
Financial scorecard review
US GAAP to local statutory conversion
Reconciliations and compliance with operational policies
Prepare financial statement footnotes and supporting schedules.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
Implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure proper execution of transactions.
Perform fluctuation analysis and financial statement analytics, providing meaningful explanations to senior management.
Document and implement internal controls as required by SOX.
Participate in process improvement and streamlining initiatives.
Lead annual financial audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, including preparation and review of schedules.
Coordinate closely with other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accruals.
Support leadership with accounting analysis and unusual transactions.
Lead accounting projects, including M&A activities.
Contribute to budgeting, cost analysis, and financial estimates.
Perform product costing, inventory reviews, and fixed asset reviews.
Educate internal partners on accounting policies and internal controls, resolving issues as they arise.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Advanced English and Spanish (preferred).
Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting standards (Argentinean GAAP) and applicable accounting rules and regulations;
Experience with SAP.
3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
Proven ability to prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
Knowledge of FASB, SEC requirements, SOX compliance, and best accounting practices.
