Job Description: As a Data Visualization Analyst Intern, you will be tasked with developing and delivering innovative dashboard designs, data analytics solutions, data and file organization architecture, and exploring automation solutions for recurring processes.  Using the concepts you have developed through your academic career, and with guidance from in-house Data and Process experts, you will leverage industry benchmark standards, feedback from end-users, and use your own innovative ideas to create user-friendly dashboards that effectively communicate insights to end users.  This is not just an exercise – your work will form the foundation for how our organization visualizes and interprets data to drive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Skills Proficiency Dashboard – Usage and Functionality:
    • Understand from both a leader and team member perspective what insights users want from the skill proficiency dashboards and recommend a 2.0 dashboard mockup based on feedback.
    • Identify specific insights users seek from the SPT dashboards and gaps where insights are not available or not easily accessible.
    • Analyze which views in the dashboard are most and least used, and identify areas that are least understood or most cumbersome to use.
    • Conduct external benchmarking and research to gather insights and reference templates/examples from quality dashboards.
    • Design mockups in Tableau/Power BI or create visuals using PowerPoint/Photoshop, depending on skillset.
  • Explore Automation Opportunities:
    • Apply technical skillset to real-world opportunities, identifying processes or functional areas that would benefit from documentation, streamlining, or automation
    • Utilize tools like Generative AI, Power Automate, Power Apps, VBA, and/or Python to explore automation opportunities within the team.
  • Setting Up Team Shared Data Repository:
    • Establish a shared data and file repository for semi-structured data (e.g., Excel files) with live data connection functionality.

The hiring manager will work with you to engage with the right contacts and provide coaching where needed. This role offers good exposure and experience in working with corporate data communication processes.

  • Digital Dexterity: Well-versed in the data visualization discipline and turning feedback, research, and data into visuals that lead end-users to actionable recommendations.
  • Data Fluency: Fluent in data gathering, research, and developing comprehensive tactical project plans.
  • Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement: Able to demonstrate tenacity in gathering sound user insights, a collaborative spirit in working across global teams, groups, and audiences, and innovation in the ideas you put forth.
  • Agile in adopting new tools and ways of working towards continuous improvement to better business outcomes

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Near completion of an undergraduate degree or degree-seeking master's level in the fields of Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Tools & Technology: Experience with – such as through your coursework – in creating visuals from data sets
  • Communication & Influence: Proficient in written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in O365, Sharepoint, Tableau or Power BI
  • Agile/backlog management (e.g. Azure, Jira, Confluence), or equivalent preferred.
  • Some experience with programming or automation software (e.g. UI Path, Power Automate, VBA) preferred
