Title: Associate Basketball Data Scientist

Job Summary:

The Sacramento Kings are seeking a Data Scientist to contribute to cutting-edge basketball analysis, research, and systems. As an Associate Basketball Data Scientist, you’ll dive into rich datasets, build models that uncover critical insights, and help shape the future of the team. You’ll work closely with the analytics team and stakeholders across Basketball Operations to transform data into actionable insights and decisions. This search will prefer candidates with a foundation in data science, statistical modeling, machine learning, or predictive analytics. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide analysis and reporting for stakeholders such as scouts, coaches, and executives
• Perform and present research projects in a concise, straightforward manner
• Clean, organize, and manage basketball datasets
• Collaborate with the analytics team on building internal tools and systems
• Complete general Basketball Operations duties as required

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of and experience working with sports data and analytics
• Proficiency with R or Python, including data manipulation and model development
• Experience in statistical modeling techniques
• Experience with relational databases and SQL
• Ability to work independently and under deadlines, and relate to and communicate effectively with people of varied backgrounds (programmers, analysts, outside data vendors, other front office members)
• Ability to work evening, weekend and holiday hours (as dictated by the basketball calendar)
• Willingness and ability to relocate to Sacramento and work on-site in the Kings Basketball Operations offices

Compensation:

The salary range for this full-time, exempt role is $70,000 - $85,000. Offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
