Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will be an experienced risk analyst who thrives in a fast-moving environment and is capable of building credibility with both internal stakeholders and clients. They will understand client requirements and implement risk solutions that deliver scalable and consistent results on the truView® proprietary risk platform.

Given the nature of the client base, fluency in Japanese (both written and spoken) is a mandatory requirement for this role. The successful candidate will be expected to engage directly with Japanese clients, interpret requirements, and communicate complex risk concepts clearly and effectively in Japanese.

The candidate should also have a strong understanding of the APAC market, with demonstrable experience supporting Japanese clients.

The team you will be joining is part of State Street’s Investment Analytics. This business unit provides data and analytics solutions to asset owners, asset managers, banks, and insurance companies. Investment Analytics supports clients in managing investment risks and meeting regulatory reporting requirements.

This role is critical in supporting our growing Japanese client base and ensuring high-quality, locally relevant client engagement.

What you will be responsible for

As a Risk Analytics Officer, you will:

  • Provide client support and address inquiries, demonstrating a strong understanding of the risk platform
  • Engage directly with Japanese clients in Japanese, including handling day-to-day queries and supporting onboarding and ongoing delivery
  • Translate client requirements into risk analytics solutions and clearly communicate outputs and insights
  • Support senior team members in developing solutions that enhance risk products and drive operational efficiencies
  • Play a key role in the development and maintenance of risk management, analytics, and reporting services
  • Maintain oversight and provide expertise to a remote operations team
  • Reconcile risk analytics versus accounting and independent data
  • Participate in the software development lifecycle and contribute to the regional product roadmap
  • Manage stakeholders throughout client onboarding processes
  • Represent State Street risk services in client-facing engagements across APAC
  • Provide platform risk knowledge to business development and sector solutions teams

Strong analytical knowledge across product types including derivatives, fixed income, and OTC instruments Strong understanding of risk techniques and valuation methods:

  • Value at Risk (VaR)
  • Stress testing
  • Exposures
  • Greeks / sensitivities
  • Benchmark tracking error
  • Liquidity risk and reporting
  • Experience working with Japanese clients or within the Japanese financial market Fluency in Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent proficiency preferred), with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly An interest in ESG and how asset managers embed this in their risk monitoring processes

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • FRM or CFA qualification is advantageous
  • Strong experience in financial risk services / investments
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and risk management techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn
  • Proven experience with SQL and Excel; knowledge of Bloomberg, Python, and Spring Expression Language is advantageous
