About You and this Role:
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Process Operator in Beaumont, Texas.
Operates assigned equipment or areas of the Plant. Performs and reports on operational related activities per the Operations Dashboard (OPD)-Tasks List. Utilizes discretionary time to enable sustainable performance results for the facility. Utilizes operations knowledge and experience, to proactively operate the plant in a safe, reliable and optimal manner. Works with Shift Team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events within the capabilities of the shift team and effectively escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles. May provide training to less experienced operators. Requires established basic technical skills to perform a range of routine work activities using existing processes and methods. Note: Operator Progression is managed at the site level.
Responsibilities:
Follows Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas. Ensures adequate operating discipline is available for all planned and unplanned activities.
Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitors process conditions, key performance metrics, equipment and control systems and make appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals.
Performs scheduled operational and related tasks and tasks that arise because of resolving unplanned events.
Serves on site Emergency Response Team (ERT) and attends all required training (Fire Response, HAZMAT, Medical, etc).
Works with shift team members and other shift teams to leverage skills and knowledge to balance workload ensuring assigned tasks are completed by due dates.
Conducts effective shift relief, as defined in facility specific operating discipline and tools, to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team.
Maintains qualification in assigned areas, per facility policy, and completes training goals in a timely manner. This includes using discretionary time to address skills and knowledge gaps.
Mentors and trains new and existing operations personnel on process operation, troubleshooting and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process.
Performs Immediate Response activities, as assigned.
Initiates and documents preliminary investigations according to plant specific process/criteria and participates in formal and informal Root Cause Investigations for events involved in or by request.
Tracks and utilizes the plant's key performance metrics on shift that are applicable to the Operating the Plant role to optimize operations and identify improvement opportunities. Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline. Proactively identifies improvements and opportunities utilizing the facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes and communication tools.
Performs Autonomous Maintenance, including minor repairs and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate policies, procedures, processes and disciplines. Note: Subject to local agreements.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED AND one of the following are required:
Associate degree or higher in Process Technology or a STEM discipline.
In lieu of a degree, Dow will consider those with 3 or more years of relevant Military experience
1 or more years of chemical or petrochemical experience.
Successful candidates must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts and work overtime, nights, weekends or holidays as required.
Current, valid US driver's license.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Your Skills:
Communication (Written & Verbal): Ability to clearly and accurately communicate plant status, operating conditions, abnormal situations, and task handoffs to shift team members, supervisors, and support functions. This includes effective shift relief communication, documentation of operational activities and investigations, and the ability to interact with a diverse workforce across the site to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Organizational Skills: Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and manage assigned operational tasks during a shift. This includes balancing routine operational duties, responding to unplanned events, completing required documentation and training, and ensuring tasks are completed by due dates while maintaining operating discipline and safety standards.
Troubleshooting: Ability to recognize abnormal process conditions, equipment issues, and control system deviations, and take appropriate corrective actions within operator authority. This includes using process knowledge to stabilize operations, performing field checks, making preliminary equipment diagnoses (pumps, motors, valves), and escalating issues that exceed shift team capability.
Decision Making: Ability to make timely, sound operational decisions based on process data, alarms, operating limits, and safety considerations. Decisions are made to protect personnel, equipment, and the environment while maintaining optimal operating rates and responding effectively to unplanned events and competing priorities.
Problem Solving: Ability to systematically analyze operational problems and identify effective solutions to improve plant performance. This includes participating in immediate response actions, documenting preliminary investigations, supporting root cause investigations, and proactively identifying improvement opportunities through established facility processes.
Multi-Tasking: Ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities in a dynamic operating environment. This includes monitoring process conditions, performing operational tasks, responding to alarms, supporting maintenance activities, participating in emergency response duties, and completing administrative and training requirements without compromising safety or performance.
Computer Skills: Ability to effectively use computer systems and control systems required for plant operations. This includes monitoring process parameters, entering and reviewing operational data, completing electronic documentation, accessing procedures and training systems, and utilizing plant software tools to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
Stand 50% of the time.
Walk for extended periods of time.
Work at extended heights, climb stairs and ladders.
Work in tight and closed in spaces.
Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
Work in an area with hazardous materials.
Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground greater than or equal to four feet.
Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to such as earplugs, goggles, respirators. and steel-toed shoe, firefighting (bunker) gear, or harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
