The Supply Chain Finance team is seeking out driven, detail-oriented professionals to exercise GAAP principles while preserving the superior financial standing of our $15B company. These personnel examine financial data for accurate costing, trends and opportunities, and performance against target.  The Analyst will be responsible for analysis within the functional areas of the supply chain, including transportation, warehouse, procurement and inventory planning related transactions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and distribute monthly financial reports for the transportation, warehousing, or procurement divisions of Smithfield Foods.

  • Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs; collecting operational data.

  • Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plan and forecast.

  • Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.

  • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and monetizing opportunities.

  • Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for assigned functional areas.

  • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

  • Assist in developing management reports through functional knowledge of our ERP system, including the following: SAP BI, SAP BPC & SAP General Ledger, as well as our transportation system.

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and potential assignment to special studies/teams to assist management in evaluating key opportunities for the company.

  • Compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Company will consider a currently enrolled college student with an anticipated graduation by end of current school year as qualified. 

  • Knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Suite: including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Strong analytical and variance analysis skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
