What You’ll Work On

We have an exciting opportunity within our Abbott Diagnostics business located at Irving, Texas for a Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis.  This individual will drive financial support and counsel to the Global Instrument Operations Controller, as well as, site Sr. leadership team for activity impacting Income Statement / Balance Sheet reporting, as well as, strategic business initiatives geared towards ensuring site success, economic profitability and positioning for future state through long range planning and analysis. The position will have significant exposure to both Division Finance as well as senior Operations leadership personnel.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Primary responsibilities included, but are not limited to, setting standards annually (labor / material / overhead), forecasting spending budgets and headcount files, account reconciliation review, and partnering with multiple site operations managers to maximize effective / accurate financial reporting, while managing a staff of 3 headcount.
  • Consolidate, forecast and report ADD IA Core Instrument manufacturing production spanning $100MM in budgetary spending, 650 employees, $600MM in COGS, and $300MM+ Inventory globally against relevant benchmark planning (Plan, Std, IBP, LRP, etc…).
  • Works strategically with business partners to ensure the manufacturing entities are taking advantage of cost savings and scaling for the future.
  • Provides leadership to assigned staff by setting goals which align to site and department annual operating plans and regularly review execution towards individual goals through coaching and mentoring.
  • Develop and retain employee(s) reporting to this role allowing them to grow, while leveraging their strengths and expanding their knowledge of the business to get the job done.
  • Obtain, review, and coordinate the ADD global demand planning forecast by size code for internal manufacturing, as well as, for third party manufactured (TPM) instruments for the appropriate cycle (IBP, Standard setting, actual reporting, etc…).
  • Model and forecast key P&L expense reporting line items, such as PPV, Cost Improvements, Methods, and Distressed Inventory.
  • Monitor impacts to the aforementioned areas for inclusion in the annual product cost change standard update vs. the bench mark year standards.
  • Preparation of the site product overhead burden pool and allocations for standards to alternate sites supported with our headcount when applicable.
  • Active, continuous support of ADD gross margin improvement possibilities, possessing the initiative and drive to influence, guide, and support the decision-making process.
  • Analyze, implement, and recommend improvement strategies to analyze data and results while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of consolidated activity.
  • Anticipate financial issues, demonstrating an ability to recognize the implications of interrelated activities.  Independently develop strategies to mitigate or capitalize on the potential impacts before the event has occurred when feasible.
  • Professionally interface with various levels of management using strong communication, summarization, and presentation skills, leveraging best practices in effective persuasion using fact-based reasoning.
  • Properly report and estimate the impact of foreign currency exchange for both year-to-year standard implications (SCOP/SRV) and monthly PPV reporting purposes.
  • Review, prepare, or analyze account reconciliations and lead effort to clear reconciling items in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain effective internal control and compliance with Abbott CFM’s, GAAP, SOX, customs and entity tax where applicable.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA is a plus
  • 7 -10 years of Accounting and Finance experience
  • Strong technical, analytical, and independent problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, TM1, and SAP
  • Very effective communicator and presenter
  • Influential leader

The base pay for this position is

$95,000.00 – $190,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
