Job Description:
The Project Leader – New Product Development (NPD) is responsible for leading the overall execution of moderate to high complexity product development initiatives, with minimal oversight. This role owns the technical scope, drives key design decisions and trade-off analyses, and coordinates cross-functional execution while maintaining full accountability for project delivery and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Drives overall project from concept to mass production, coordinating with cross-functional team and motivating them to accomplish project objectives.
- Responsible for meeting cost, schedule, and performance targets during project execution.
- Establishes and reinforces strong culture within project team.
- Holds team members accountable for individual responsibilities during project.
- Recognizes when escalation is needed, then effectively escalates to leadership.
- Creates and tracks schedules and facilitates and documents project meetings.
- Consistently visualizes entire scope of a project with very little guidance.
- Effectively tracks project risks,
- Leads tradeoff discussions with product management and other cross-functional team members.
- Demonstrates effective negotiation skills to reach a compromise when needed.
- Presents project updates, risks, and business cases to leadership.
- Ensures component delivery via close coordination with US/Asia sourcing and supply chain teams.
- Coordinates build readiness planning throughout the development process with cross-functional departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in related field
- Strong understanding of electromechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Results driven and deadline orientated. Ability to manage projects with extreme ownership to aggressive schedules and results. Ability to handle fast paced, and agile culture. Ability to adapt to constant change and competing priorities.
- Excellent problem identification and resolution skills
- Experience working on cross-functional teams.
- Thrive in a collaborative work environment. Ability to develop and nurture productive business relationships, and influence and educate internal team members and external suppliers.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project leadership skills.
- 3-10% travel is required.
