What if… you could join an organization that creates, resources, and builds life sciences companies that invent breakthrough technologies in order to transform health care and sustainability?

FL94 Inc., is a privately held, early-stage biotechnology company pioneering the emerging field of Protein Editing. At FL94 we create small molecules that edit protein structure and function to unlock presently undruggable targets and a broad array of therapeutic modalities. Our platform integrates novel small molecule chemistry and chemoproteomic discovery technologies with Machine Learning (ML) to enable generative design. FL94 is backed by Flagship Pioneering, bringing their courage, vision, and resources to guide FL94 from platform validation to patient impact. We are seeking collaborative, relentless problem solvers that share our passion for impact to join us!

About the Position:

As a (Senior) Machine Learning Scientist, you will lead the efforts in leveraging AI/ML to understand the how small molecule drugs and proteins interact to drive novel function. Working in conjunction with our diverse team of scientists and our massive experimental platform, you will design advanced computational algorithms, create new representations, and train ML models to power new insights into protein structures, their interactions, and their conformational and functional shifts driven by small molecules. Responsibilities will span:

  • Develop and implement Machine Learning (AI/ML) models and algorithms in areas such as protein structure, quantum mechanics, and biomolecular (protein-protein and protein-ligand) interactions.
  • Closely collaborate with biologists and chemists to identify opportunities for ML acceleration.
  • Work hand-in-hand with experimental scientists to build novel data generation strategies and improve the quality of high throughput data screens for ML models.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements AI/ML, particularly those involving protein-structural models, biosimulations, functional genomics, and bioinformatics.
  • Mentor, both technically and professionally, both inside of your team and across disciplines.

A successful candidate will have all the following qualifications necessary to perform in a fast-paced, purposeful, inclusive, and pioneering environment:

  • PhD or advanced degree in Computer Science, Computational Biology/Chemistry, Bioinformatics or a related field.
  • Proficiency with various AI/ML models and relevant programming languages / tools (Python, JAX,  PyTorch, TensorFlow etc.).
  • Proven experience applying AI/ML methods to diverse biological data; experience with protein structure preferred.
  • Experience with massive biomolecular interaction data sets, including the Protein Data Bank (PDB).
  • Highly competent in use of molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry modelling, or other relevant models for interrogating protein-ligand interactions
  • Be a thought leader and functional representative in a multi-functional environment tasked with creating first- or best-in-class small molecule editors
  • Clear communicator with authentic leadership qualities, open to take and give feedback up, down and across the organization.

If you're ready for a career at the cutting edge of biotech and want to make a significant impact on the future of healthcare, we encourage you to apply.
