The Recreation Therapy Technician assists therapists with Recreation Therapy
programming and activities.
This position assists patients and families, after therapist instruction to achieve Recreation Therapy goals.
The Recreation Therapy Technician is responsible for organization and cleanliness of department, preparation for activities and events and clerical work.

Current CPR certification
Experience REQUIRED:
Experience working with children with disabilities in camps, daycare, hospitalized, special education or volunteer opportunities
Experience using a personal computer and various software applications including Microsoft Office, e-mail/calendaring, etc.
Experience PREFERRED:
Previous experience in recreational area
Education/training REQUIRED: (Note: work experience may be considered in lieu of credentials not required by law with HR approval.Work experience must be specific to role)
High school diploma or equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED:
Two (2) years of post high school coursework in a human service, education or related field
Independent action(s) required:
Demonstrates ability to provide specific patient care activities according to instruction and/or supervision of therapists.
Keeps department environment safe, clean, and organized.
Documents progress note efficiently and accurately which is later co-signed by therapist.
Effectively copes with emotional and behavioral changes exhibited by patients and provides support to family or caregivers including siblings in the treatment environment.
Ability to direct and supervise volunteers as needed.
Participates in program development, quality assurance, and improvement activities.
Attends in-services and continuing education opportunities.
Exhibits excellent customer service skills.
Performs other duties as requested by supervisor or therapist.
