Job Description
Summary
AV seeks an Associate Project Manager to support program execution and customer engagements for a commercial product line within the Hyper-RF division in Germantown, MD. At AV, we design, integrate, test, and deploy state-of-the-art systems, including wireless communications, perimeter intrusion detection sensors, radar systems, phased array antennas, 5G/LTE, and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT).
The Associate Project Manager is an early-career role responsible for supporting the planning and execution of programs across engineering, production, field service, and customer support functions. This individual will work under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager, assisting with tracking cost, schedule, and technical progress while helping ensure strong coordination across teams and clear communication with stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, eager to learn, and interested in developing project management skills within a technical environment.
Responsibilities
Support the planning, execution, and delivery of programs in alignment with business and product line objectives under the direction of a Senior Project Manager
Assist in tracking program performance, including schedule, cost, and technical progress
Help maintain program schedules and task tracking tools, ensuring updates are accurate and timely
Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, production, and field service teams to track action items and deliverables
Assist in coordinating production activities, including build schedules, material readiness, and work order status tracking
Support communication between program teams and production to ensure alignment on priorities, schedules, and deliverables
Help track production issues, non-conformances, or delays, and ensure visibility to program leadership
Assist in planning and coordinating field deployments, installations, and test activities
Support logistics coordination for field activities, including scheduling, equipment readiness, and team availability
Help collect and track field feedback, issues, and action items, ensuring they are communicated to the appropriate teams
Support communication with customers and internal stakeholders by preparing status updates and reports
Identify potential risks and issues, and escalate them to the Senior Project Manager as needed
Assist in organizing and facilitating program meetings, including capturing notes and tracking follow-ups
Support preparation of program reviews, status reports, and presentations for leadership
Contribute to proposal efforts by gathering inputs for schedules, estimates, and documentation
Help maintain program documentation, including plans, reports, and action trackers
Learn and apply program management tools, processes, and best practices
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency and communication
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
0–3 years of experience in project coordination, project management, engineering, or a related field
Desired Qualifications
Internship or academic project experience in a technical or engineering environment is a plus
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, cross-functional environment
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Basic analytical and problem-solving abilities
Willingness to learn project management tools and techniques
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint)
Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Planner) is a plus
Interest in working within a technical environment (software, electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing)
Physical Demands
Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)
Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
Clearance Level
The salary range for this role is:
$59,500 - $84,000AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
