Position Overview:
The Export Specialist is responsible for the planning of export containers, Department of Defense bookings, and related customer communications.
The Export Specialist manages company's import and export operations to ensure compliance with international trade regulations and to optimize the efficiency of services provided. Will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods. The role also oversees the movement of goods between different countries and provides administrative support for the Export Operations, and oversees the documentation generated and requirements for exporting all goods.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Oversee and approve Import/Export related activities and requirement for smooth execution of order replenishment process (customer clearance, road & sea international transportation booking) to be it outsourced or in-house
Dedicated contact (business partner) for all defined set of export customers for order management
Review orders for completeness, export compliance, government contracts, and company policies
Monitor orders for timely delivery and works with Military Customers, suppliers, and internal procurement team to expedite
Solicit new orders for unfilled or incomplete orders to be expedited on special order
Maintain holiday, OTB, special promo order files
Invoicing and cost control for all export drop shipments and EDI orders.
Develop and maintain a network of suppliers, logistics providers, and other partners to support import/export operations
Determine export requirements and prepare review required type of authorization, ensuring timely submittal to the appropriate government agency
Communication with export customers concerning order discrepancies
Participate in meetings with customers
Analyze shipping volume and determine increase in volume to meet government shipping contracts and timeline
Manage communication within the company, with other departments, transshipments, and discharge ports etc. to solve client’s issues
What you’ll need:
Bachelor's degree preferred or combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum 5 years' experience with account management, logistics, and experience in the food industry environment
Must be proficient with standard computer apps such as Microsoft Office and Internet Applications
Experience in a customer service and logistics
Logistics and Cost Control Experience, Inventory Management
Multiple years of experience in import/export operations, logistics, or supply chain management
Knowledge of export logistics terminology (Vessel bookings / INCO terms), EOU procedure, and domestic / international shipping requirements
Deep attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Familiar with International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations, policy, government relations, business or some knowledge and application of import/export trade regulations (e.g., International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), and Customs and Border Protection Export Enforcement (CBP), Defense Security Service (DSS) are all recommended
Knowledge of international trade regulations, including customs procedures, tariffs, and trade agreements preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in the application of regulations (ITAR, EAR, Customs) in a high volume environment
Ability to travel up to 20%.
