Part-Time Lecturer for AP6413 Modelling and Animation for Games
AP6413 Modelling and Animation for Games is a 13-week course covering the design, modelling, and preparation of original visual assets for game engines. Students explore essential techniques for creating 2D sprites, 3D models, textures, and basic animation, including the use of motion capture and fundamentals of environment design. The course emphasizes principles of efficiency and basic assembly inside a game engine, culminating in a portfolio of modular art assets for a game proposal. This learning enables students to build capable, engine-ready assets for any game project.
Applicants to this position will be able to demonstrate expertise in the complete game art pipeline, from initial asset design and 3D modelling to texturing, rigging, and animation. Applicants will be able to demonstrate passion in guiding students through the technical nuances of motion capture integration, environment design, and modular asset creation. You will support students in mastering the principles of technical efficiency and the practicalities of assembling and optimizing visual assets within a modern game engine.
Candidates should have a relevant Master’s and/or PhD in Animation, Game Art, Digital Media, or a related field with a track record of creative practice in professional game asset production. Past teaching experience at the Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience (such as 3D Modeller, Technical Animator, or Environment Artist) may also be considered in exceptional cases.
