Job Summary

Provide support to the technical staff in all modality area with the diagnostic radiology/molecular imaging departments. Duties may include but are not limited to: Transportation of patients, specimens, supplies to appropriate areas. Supports nursing and physician needs during procedures. Follows Corewell Health philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.

Essential Functions
  • Escort/Transport patients within the hospital to and from the diagnostic imaging departments.
  • Interacts/Communicate with floor Nurse before transporting patient off the floor, obtains the transport log, removes blood pressure cuff, assists with the MRI 2 Person Safety Assessment for MRI patients when needed, TMS wires, pulse ox with RN permission before transporting patient off the floor, and informs floor Nurse when patient returns.
  • Aides technologist in transferring and moving of patients on and off stretchers, wheelchairs, procedure tables. Follows universal precautions during patient contact.
  • May assist and monitor patients in IP holding, MRI and Nuclear Medicine department as required.
  • May assist speech pathologist during Modified Barium Swallow studies and operate CD player as required.
  • Assists in non-technical related duties such as: Transports equipment, specimens and supplies. Documentation of daily log as required by site. Assist with patient care as needed. Assist with room turnover. Stock supplies, linen and dispose of soiled linen. Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining the stretchers and wheelchairs within the department.
  • May assist with the cleaning of the department refrigerators as needed.
  • May assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • May assist using image transferring software, upload and transfer images to discs for patients.
  • Responsible for proper use and storage of oxygen tanks.
  • Maintains patient comfort while in the department and during transport. Demonstrates safe, quality patient care.
  • Required to maintain a quiet professional atmosphere and exhibit a professional image through appearance and mannerisms.
  • Capable of providing adequate and prompt information to all through the use of good interpersonal and communication skills. Must be willing to provide assistance to any individual regardless of age or special needs.
  • Must be willing to work independently or assist co-workers and technologist with exams as needed.

Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in patient care related field. Preferred
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required
