The Nutrition / Formulation Manager ensures the development and marketing of new products, based on knowledge of consumer/customer needs, nutritional requirements, raw material requirements and technological opportunities. This position provides the technical execution of new product ideas, in line with the strategy of the company and in co-operation with teams, in order to achieve feasible and profitable product developments and innovations, thereby taking maximum advantage of market opportunities. The Nutrition / Formulation Manager also provides professional nutrition expertise to sales managers and technical advisors, and safeguards high level nutritional standards of the product portfolio.
The Nutrition / Formulation Manger oversees production development to assure nutritional and cost effective quality products. He / she is the head of the Production Development team and reports to the Division Director.
As a managerial role, the focus is also on people management: selecting, organizing, training, and motivating his/her team to ensure consistent attainment of production schedules at optimum productivity and cost levels.

Job Description:

Nutrition and Formulation

  • Translating research findings and practical experiences into the animal feed portfolio
  • Monitoring feed formulations to meet quality performance and animal health standards
  • Responsible for quality control, analysis and interpretation of trial data and preparations of final reports
  • Developing new products based on your knowledge of consumer/customer needs and opportunities
  • Coordinating and liaising with internal and external stakeholders

Management

  • Lead a team of technical experts and Product Managers to meet current and future business needs
  • Manages and develops protocols, data and reports of all post-registration studies, as well as interactions with marketing to develop and leverage resulting data into sales
  • Supports the development of training, marketing, and sales materials for NUTRECO products.
  • Providing support and expertise in the area of acquaculture nutrition to the marketing, technical consulting and sales employees
  • Knowledge transfer and technical support to the sales team

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s, 8 – 10 years’ experience
  • Master’s, 6 – 8 years’ experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Aquaculture or similar to a Master’s level
  • Sales experience to understand the product and its markets
  • Extensive leadership experience and people management
  • Marketing and product management expertise
  • Management Breadth
  • Is responsible for the integration of activities of own business which are generally different in nature and objective. Tactical focus.
