The Leidos National Security Sector currently has an opening for a Project Lead at the Leidos-Pittsburgh facility. Leidos Pittsburgh, Cage Code 1N0X4 is the “original equipment manufacturer” (OEM) for the US NAVY’s Surface ship Solid Waste Equipment, the LPD 17 class Oily Polishers and the Submarine Chlorinators/Dechlorinators. The facility recently became ISO 9001:2015 certified. The selected candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting equipment builds for new construction hulls, providing spare parts, troubleshooting, testing, training other team members, and development/evaluation of new product lines.

Primary Responsibilities
Functioning in an engineering manufacturing environment with the following responsibilities to meet customer delivery schedules:
Equipment Material Procurement. Develop Material Releases, Work Orders/Route Cards for new contracts. Resolve issues tied to procurement (Non-Conformances) using best engineering practices and identify/resolve component obsolescence issues on equipment discovered during procurement. Assist in procurement efforts with obtaining and reviewing quotes for orders.
Proposal and Quote Support. Contribute to development and review of proposals and Basis-of-Estimate (BOEs) documentation for new quotes.
Project Planning: Assist site manager and financial analyst maintaining PROJECT based planning and scheduling with respect to labor hours and material from both a schedule and cost perspective. Establish realistic equipment delivery schedules.
Project Tracking: Work with purchasing to ensure the Material Releases in excel are updated and complete for tracking material for tasks.
Fabrication/Shop Needs. Provide direction and support to the shop technicians. Develop rapport with Shop Technicians regarding the equipment and processes they use. Maintain equipment supplies and assist with training. Monitor shop equipment calibration and safety requirements. Participate in Leidos Corporate ES&H bi-annual inspections and JLL facility management.
Initial training under current staff on processes and procedures; equipment; customers; drawings; notes; and Bills-of-Material; understanding of Quality/ISO requirements for documentation; facility equipment; and Leidos Basis-of-Estimate and Work-flow Planning.
Basic Mechanical Engineering understanding of manufacturing fabrication detail drawings including bills -of-material and ability to work with outside machine shop suppliers when questions arise.
Ability to multi-task and meet/exceed delivery dates is a must.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established Shop operating procedures and practices and provide guidance to others.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6 or more years of directly related experience. Additional years of experience, certifications, and/or training may substitute degree requirement.
Proven abilities and experience in manufacturing and industry practices and standards.
Experience and knowledge of electrical-mechanical equipment’s installation, repair troubleshooting, and documentation. Reaching out to Manufacturer’s as needed to get the best information.
Ability to work side-by-side with onsite staff and customers as required to complete project and provide clear explanation of task performed – both working independently and/or in a team environment.
Expert with EXCEL and PROJECT software. Very organized with attention to detail and over-the-top work ethic is needed.
Ability to travel and clear screening processes allowing access to US Navy facilities and to work onboard US Navy vessels.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the US Navy or at US military facilities/shipyards is a plus, other manufacturing industrial plant experience is also desired.
