Job Description:

Director, GCA Logistics is responsible for providing leadership for the supply chain and logistics team for GCA, employee development and local hiring, integration into 3M inventory, $260 million monthly sales, and import/export activity. leads the GCA supply chain and logistics operations and develops the talent pool through local strategy.

Director, GCA Logistics’s specific responsibilities include:

  • Consulting with leadership team to set long-term strategic direction and operating plans for a significantly complex logistics and distribution operation; interpreting industry trends, customer requirements, and business objectives to define guidelines/methods across multiple businesses and/or subsidiaries for the logistics function; independently executing decision in alignment with the objectives/guidelines of the business; initiating and approving projects to continuously improve efficiency and competitiveness [10%];
  • Responsible for functional strategic planning, including establishing and managing budgets for organizations in the next one to two higher level tiers; approving assigned programs and budget deviations as well as overall resources to meet business objectives [10%];
  • Managing several Logistics disciplines, such as planning, warehousing, distribution, and inventory/materials control; determining priorities, timetables, and assigning resources/tasks; accountable for the activities and results of assigned functional area [10%];
  • Providing direct supervision to experienced managers which include objective setting, performance management, and motivating, as well as training and coaching [10%];
  • Creating solutions for highly complex and multi-faceted problems, which require ingenuity, creativity, innovation, and strong analytical skills [10%];
  • Applying knowledge of different techniques and practices to achieve desired business results; utilizing resources across work areas, departments, and businesses to create solutions to complex problems that affect business direction [5%];
  • Resolving issues and conflicts related to direct reports [5%];
  • Establishing and enforcing multiple concepts relative to the function to expand or enhance business including [10%]:
    • Establishing overall logistics and distribution strategies in conjunction with fellow business leaders to ensure achievement of business objectives;
    • Directing and adjusting respective strategies to meet changing market and competitive conditions for a significantly complex market;
    • Responsible for the overall control of the distribution of materials and products within and outside the company;
    • Ensuring implementation of appropriate supply chain/logistics principles to ensure adequate levels of inventory and supply;
    • Establishing and defining guidelines to manage the entire distribution network of materials from purchase to finished product;
    • Responsible for development of policies and procedures to ensure on schedule delivery of merchandise in compliance with relevant regulations;
    • Defining inventory procedures and ensures the efficiency of warehouse operations;
  • Communicating with senior functional leaders, top business leaders, direct subordinates, and external clients on the highest level [10%];
  • Sharing vision and demonstrating company values; providing top executives/operating committees with timely information and recommendations; negotiating and counseling on an expert level, justifying controversial positions and demonstrating advanced persuasion skills; persuading others to cooperate, grant approval, or take action of a certain kind [10%];
  • Actively participating in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complying with professional and quality standards, complying with corporate policies and procedures, and acting in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards [5%]; and
  • Providing direct supervision to assigned employees through leadership, coaching, training and development, allocating work assignments, reviewing progress in achieving objectives, managing employee compensation, performance appraisals, diversity, disability, all relevant employee data, etc.; understanding and enforcing corporate/location policies and procedures and taking appropriate action to address policy violations; managing workforce vendors and contracts [5%].
