About XenServer:

XenServer is a commercial virtualization platform based on the open-source Xen hypervisor. XenServer powers everything from government organizations, multi-thousand seat virtual desktop deployments, super-fast network load balancers, all the way up to some of the largest public and private clouds in the world.

What you'll be doing:
We'll develop your skills and knowledge base as you join fellow engineers building and developing the toolstack (control plane) for the XenServer virtualization stack. This is the part of the code that manages storage, networking and virtual machines across clusters of physical hosts, and provides the public XenServer API.
As the control plane sits in the middle of the software stack, you'll get to partner closely with other teams that manage storage, Windows virtual machines, lower-level components such as the Linux kernel, and the user interface. We'll encourage you to progress and you'll quickly have the opportunity to act as Feature Lead for the development of multi-person, cross-team features.
The control plane is largely written in a functional language, OCaml. We actively contribute to several open source projects (including Xen, Linux Kernel, and Xapi), and follow an agile development methodology.
You'll be given lots of encouragement to participate in the evolution of an open source program that is backed by a major software company. Our developers interact with customers, partners, other Cloud Software Group teams, and with the open source community.

Responsibilities:
• This position is based in Nanjing China, you will work within one or more top-notch teams of the XenServer business unit (Nanjing China and/or Cambridge UK) with diversity (e.g., customer, architectures, developers, quality, management, etc.) by following the Agile/Scrum process to deliver the working scope, with integrity and high-quality deliverables, using world-class leading-edge technologies.
• Create, discuss, review, and feedback on requirements, architecture, design, coding, and tests, conduct plan, review, testing, debugging, bugfix, etc. activities to deliver high-quality software deliverables on time to meet the customer requirements and use cases.
• Work closely with customers, partners, and team peers to debug and fix customer and partner issues.
• Conduct innovation, prototype, and technical leadership to continually optimize and improve the system architecture, performance, reliability, and scalability and keep up with the latest technology trends.
• Lead, mentor, and guide junior team members.
• Typical deliverables include requirements, architecture, design, code, dev tests, system tests, tools, utilities, bugfix, engineering documents, working reports, etc.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree with >=5 years (or a master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of expertise) in enterprise software development, a good understanding of software Lifecycles and Version/Release Management.
• Strong practical development and debugging expertise in Functional Programming with Ocaml/ Haskell/Scala/F# etc., or willing to learn as a quick learner with proven records, and Linux Shells/Golang/Python programming are essential.
• Experience and strong knowledge in any of the Virtualization Platforms (e.g. OpenStack, ESXi, etc.), networking protocols (e.g., RPC, Restful API, TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, etc.), System performance, and/or the multi-cloud management platforms etc.
• Quick learning abilities, a good understanding of functional programming, and the essentials of programming languages, SDK, Containers, and Microservices are pluses.
• Experience with Jenkins, Pipeline, Git, JIRA, Confluence, Open-Source community, etc.
• Self-driven, excellent communication skills and English speaking, strong teamwork, and experience working within a Scrum/Agile team are preferred.
• Knowledge of Google Suites and/or MS Office, being able to use Email/Gmail, Slack, Zoom/Google Chat/Teams, etc. collaboration tools.
