As a Custom Software Engineer, you will engage in the development of custom software solutions that are designed to meet specific business needs. Your typical day will involve collaborating with various teams to design, code, and enhance components across systems or applications. You will utilize modern frameworks and agile practices to ensure that the solutions you deliver are scalable and high-performing, contributing to the overall success of the projects you are involved in.
BO Skills
Crystal Reports: Designing highly formatted, presentation-quality reports with complex sub reports, formulas, and drill-down functionality
Web Intelligence (Webi): Expertise in creating ad hoc, interactive, and dashboard-style reports using multiple data providers, merge dimensions, variables, and prompts.
Information Design Tool (IDT): Experience in building and maintaining universes, including joins, cardinalities, hierarchies, and performance optimization.
Data Warehousing Concepts: Solid understanding of ETL processes, dimensional modeling, and star/snowflake schemas.
BO Administration: Familiarity with promotion management, report scheduling, and implementing security.
Database Integration: Experience connecting to platforms like Oracle, DB2 and SQL Server. Cloud DB is a plus.
ETL and Scheduling Tools: Knowledge of tools such as Informatica, SAP Data Services, AutoSys, and StoneBranch is a plus.
Governance and Security: Applying proper version control, row/object/report-level security, and managing promotions effectively.
SQL Skills
Query Writing & Optimization: Writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and performance tuning.
Complex Joins: Proficiency in inner, outer, self-joins, and lateral joins.
Subqueries: Ability to write scalar, correlated, and nested subqueries for dynamic data retrieval and filtering.
Common Table Expressions (CTEs): Including recursive CTEs for organizing complex logic and analyzing hierarchical data.
Aggregation & Grouping: Using functions like SUM, AVG, COUNT, MAX, MIN with GROUP BY and HAVING to produce summary statistics.
Advanced CASE Statements: Implementing conditional logic and business rules within queries.
Data Transformation & Pivoting: Reshaping data for crosstab or matrix-style reports.
Performance Tuning: Analyzing execution plans, managing indexes, and optimizing joins and subqueries.
Advanced Filtering & Manipulation: Using WHERE, HAVING, string/date functions, and cleansing techniques to meet reporting requirements.

Data Visualization: Experience in designing interactive dashboards, scorecards, and visualizations using BO tools.
Scripting & Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, SDK, JDK) for automation and integration is a plus.
SDLC Support: Experience supporting the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering to deployment.
System Administration: Prior involvement in BO Administration or system migration projects is advantageous.

- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence.
