JOB SUMMARY

Job Profile Summary
Gauges petroleum products transfers to/from trucks and rail cars. Loads/unloads product from truck and/or rail cars into or out of tanks. Performs value lineups, switches and tank changes as required to move product in/out of storage tanks for truck and/or rail loading and offloading. Enters product information into applicable system applications. Performs tank inspections, analysis of tank contents and create required records of such. May require general facility maintenance to maintain compliance and appearance as directed. Assist drivers and customers and perform vessel, truck and rail rack duties as assigned and assists terminal operations including but not limited to training and qualifying on dock operation loading and offloading vessels including use of the Marine Vapor Control Unit, and other projects as assigned. The level of complexity and responsibility increases with the job grade level. All work is performed following all safety requirements to prevent product contaminations, spills and to avoid product losses. Follows instructions and utilizes standard practices and procedures to develop resolutions to problems of limited scope. Duties are typically repetitive or routine in nature and work is closely supervised. Assignments are provided with little reliance on self-direction. Contributions usually limited to assignment-related activities and require little no decision-making. Still acquiring an understanding of the technical aspects of the job skills.
 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Gauges petroleum products transferred to and from tanks, trucks and/or rail cars. Loads and unloads truck and rail cars into into/out of product tanks.

  • Performs valve lineups, switch and tank changes as required to move petroleum products in and out of storage tanks for truck and/or rail car loading or offloading.

  • Enters product information into applicable terminal automation programs and systems applications as required.

  • Performs tank inspections, analyses tank contents and prepares records as required, make routine daily inspection of facilities in the truck/rail area.

  • Maintains location appearance, repair and replace equipment, maintain facility in exemplary compliance. May perform other general maintenance responsibilities as directed.

  • Assists terminal operations including but not limited to docks and other projects. Responsible for other projects and assignments as directed.

  • Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

Education

  • H.S. Diploma required

  • College degree preferred

Work Experience

  • 1 - 2 years related work experience preferred
