Job Purpose

  • The core mission of this position is to plan and execute an effective external communications plan to increase media engagement, brand awareness, and the market’s understanding of AIG.

Job Responsibilities

 Core Responsibilities

 

  • This role is responsible for external communications planning and execution for this dynamic market, ensuring consistent, timely and relevant messaging, branding and alignment of marketing communications.

  • “External communications” covers media relations, business marketing and website content, crisis communication, agency communications and social media posting content

  • Closely partner with business and function leaders to promote consistent and effective communications around AIG’s brand and reputation in the country.

  • Reviews various communications to ensure consistent branding and messaging.

  • The role will work closely with International Corporate Communications colleagues as well as global team to make sure we send out aligned and consistent messaging.

  • This role requires skill in creative content and strategy development across all print, broadcast and digital communications channels.

 Day-to-day Responsibilities

 

  • Manage external communications output.

  • Refine core messaging to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of communication including development, organizing and education.

  • Ensure consistent framing of messages.

  • Publish videos and photography on company website and blogs.

  • Document presence of companies at events, conferences, and speaking engagements.

  • Advocate on behalf of the company brand with external stakeholders and the media across all communications channels and vehicles.

  • Collaborate with marketing to develop the advertising, marketing and promotion plans.

  • Edit and revise content as necessary.

Required Skills and Experiences

 Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

 Specific Qualifications / Capabilities

  • High-level of strategic thinking and a deep willingness to drive consistency and alignment with regional and global communication, marketing and business strategies, while adjusting for local business practices and cultural differences.

  • Native English speaker, bilingual in Japanese

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Superior project management skills.

  • Hands-on social media monitoring experience.

  • Self-starter and strategic thinker with the ability to prioritize and synthesize data.

  • Strong collaborator with solid negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

  • Comfortable with public speaking to internal and external audiences.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications or related disciplines

 Total Experience

  • 8-10 years of experience in corporate communications and media/public relations. Strong working knowledge of media relations required.
