About the role: As part of the Camera Engineering Team, this person will drive project definition, schedule, resources and vendor management. They will work cross-functionally with internal and vendor teams to ensure excellent coordination and communication and quickly grasp complex technical topics to manage multiple cutting-edge camera programs from prototype to mass production.

They will have a good understanding of the key components of miniaturized camera modules and would be comfortable traveling as needed to module integrators in Asia. 

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Help develop best-in-class optical and optomechanical components (lenses, actuators, filters, light sources) and next-gen camera modules from design, prototype to mass production.
  • Work closely with internal and external cross-functional teams and System Program Management to highlight engineering and schedule risks to ensure products meet all specifications and are delivered on schedule.
  • Excellent learning and growth opportunities through the development of multiple custom cameras, contributing to a significant impact on our future roadmap and the entire drone industry.

What makes you a good fit: 

  • BS degree in engineering field + 3 years of relevant experience 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills are required
  • Demonstrated understanding of camera fundamentals
  • Exceptional program management and leadership skills: rigorous and proactive approach to orchestration of program plans, schedule estimates, and definition and management of project goals.
  • In-depth technical engineering knowledge to effectively establish and manage projects especially through the early ambiguous definition phases, assess and drive technical risks, and critically challenge engineering decisions.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple global teams and vendors.
  • Ability to bring focus and transparency to complex situations while monitoring the bigger picture and the needs of a rapid development cycle.
  • Skilled at handling accountability without control, knowing how to identify and drive priorities from among the multiple issues competing for your attention.
  • Knowledge of imaging system design and/or camera key parts design, and subcomponents.

Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of options, comprehensive benefits, and various incentives and stipends. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000*.
