Northrop Grumman Defense Systems – Advanced Programs is looking to add a Hypersonic Systems Engineer to join the team in Huntsville, Alabama or Roy, Utah and may offer a competitive relocation package.

This position will support systems engineering for a hypersonic vehicle. This includes performing technical planning, requirement development, verification and validation, and development of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for verifying system requirements for a system and sub-systems. This includes collaboration with hardware, software, and Integration, Assembly, Test and Checkout (IATC) Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).  As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for a flight vehicle. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission by ensuring teams are aware of the compliance requirements they will need to meet. The hypersonic System Engineer will be responsible for requirements derivation, tracing, and verification work-content for IRAD supporting hypersonic vehicle development, along with supporting internal and external interfaces content.

Basic Qualifications:
T3 Principal Hypersonic Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 1 years with PhD.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years.
• Minimum 2 years requirements verification/ validation experience
• 2+ years Systems Engineering process experience for a DoD system
• ICBM/Missile/Hypersonic experience
• Requirements development/derivation experience; DOORS Experience

T4 Sr. Principal Hypersonic Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; 6 years with Master’s Degree; 4 years with PhD.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years.
• Minimum 2 years requirements verification/ validation experience
• 3+ years Systems Engineering process experience for a DoD system
• ICBM/Missile/Hypersonic experience
• Requirements development/derivation experience; DOORS Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Test Plan (e.g., functional, environmental, integrated) development experience, including experience owning/developing an Integrated Test Plan or Master Test Plan
• Interface definition experience
• Range Safety Tailoring and Certification Experience for Flight Tests
• Software and/or electrical design systems engineering experience
• Experience working in an IRAD or rapid, fast-paced environment with ambiguous or limited information/directio
• Proven organizational skills and cross-collaboration ability to resolve technical issues across multi-disciplinary teams
• Comfortable briefing to an Executive Leadership audience

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
