This is a hybrid position. You’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and our office in Gurugram, so you should live within commuting distance of Gurugram. Hybrid teams may work in-office as much as a few times a week or as little as once a month or quarter, as decided by leadership. We are strengthening our corporate contracts team with an expert Corporate Counsel, who will play a key role as we scale to meet the demands of our growing business. This role will play to the strengths of a commercial transaction’s attorney, who will draft, review, analyse and negotiate a wide variety of agreements, of varying complexity and partner to tackle varying commercial and transactional issues.

What you'll get to do...

  • Lead legal aspects of commercial transactions independently, partnering closely with internal stakeholders and interacting directly with deal counterparties, external counsel and other advisors
  • Join forces with internal business partners as they develop and negotiate strategic partnerships, including drafting and revising agreements to ensure that they adequately address the business directives and mitigate identified risks
  • Act as a proactively partner during planning stages to provide strategic legal advice for product development, projects, and initiatives
  • Partner across business teams and legal subject matter authority (e.g., privacy, compliance, finance, public relations, and marketing) to provide counsel on legal issues that arise throughout the creation of products and services, applying a pragmatic, business-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Proactively partner hand in hand with business collaborators, taking the time to align with and understand our business strategy
  • Champion our values of continuous improvement standardising form agreements, legal processes, and our continuing strategic alignment with GoDaddy’s business units
  • Identify, raise and address legal and business problems relating to new and existing products and contracts
  • Council clients on legal issues and risks, sophisticated agreement structures, approval processes, and company policies and procedures
  • Develop and refine contract templates, clauses, and processes to improve efficiency and velocity

Your experience should include...

  • Juris Doctorate degree. 
  • 7+ years of confirmed legal experience within a law firm or corporate legal departments as a Lead Counsel, working on global commercial transactions, as the primary negotiator of key deal terms with counterparties and their counsel 
  • Proven knowledge in specialised areas that arise frequently in commercial transactions: including sales, procurement, real estate/leasing, privacy and information security, internet/technology (SaaS, licensing, etc) and commercial products
  • Proven experience in drafting contracts from business concept to final execution version. Collaborate with partners who have different perspectives, including Procurement, Tax, Treasury, Corporate Accounting, Commerce, Compliance, Marketing, etc
