General Manager, Cobb‑Vantress New Zealand

Cobb‑Vantress New Zealand (CVNZ) is a global leader in poultry genetics, using innovative research and technology to make protein available, healthy and affordable worldwide. Our New Zealand site comprises a farm on a 150 acre site, based in Rotongaro, north of Huntly. With around 100 team members, we proudly provide vital exports to the growing Asian market for poultry.

We are seeking an experienced, high‑performing General Manager to lead our New Zealand business through its next stage of growth, operational excellence, and commercial expansion.

The Opportunity

As the General Manager, you will take full operational and commercial leadership of CVNZ. You'll guide a dedicated team across production, QA, biosecurity, exports, planning, and people leadership- ensuring our New Zealand operation performs to the highest standards and remains a trusted partner to customers across the Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, operational, and commercial leadership across the New Zealand business

• Drive budgeting, P&L performance, forecasting, and commercial outcomes

• Support customer account management activities across New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, and Australia, fostering strong and trusted customer partnerships

• Champion a strong health, safety and biosecurity culture, ensuring our the operation meets or exceed regulatory and company standards

• Lead and develop the leadership team to enhance effectiveness and strengthen organisational capability

• Maintain strong relationships with customers, MPI, councils, ministries, and industry partners

• Ensure full compliance with MPI and all industry regulations

• Partner with the APAC leadership team to deliver regional strategy

• Represent CVNZ publicly as a trusted and respected industry leader

What You’ll Bring

• Proven success in senior operational or general management roles

• Experience in primary industries, animal production, food manufacturing, or other regulated environments

• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and business performance

• Exceptional people leadership skills - able to motivate, influence, and develop high‑performing teams

• Excellent stakeholder‑management skills and diplomatic communication

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Business or Leadership qualifications advantageous)
