Job Summary: 

Caterpillar Defense is seeking a Program Manager within the Program Management Division, supporting Construction & Marine industries.  This position is responsible for coordinating with internal product, engineering, sales and contracting organizations, and external customers to translate unique customer requirements into marketable items for direct sales through federal government contracting mechanisms. 

Customers can include US Department of Defense and Federal agencies, as well as international allied militaries, Caterpillar dealers and third-party governmental marketing and sales organizations. 

About IPSD:

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Manage several complex business growth programs, which are long term in nature for the optimization of product distribution, product offerings, unique industry segments and global manufacturing footprint.

  • Determine the scope of work and lead efforts to align customer product requirements with commercial product group offerings.  This can include collaboration on NPI, CPI and NTI programs, parts and product obsolescence, S&OP planning, factory/facility production coordination.

  • Serve as the primary customer focal point to resolve problems before, during, and after delivery by providing specific direction for the performance of all work to meet cost, quality and required contract delivery schedules. Negotiate changes to programs including cost, price, supplier selection, etc. Direct changes required due to performance or reliability problems and assist in negotiating contracts. 

  • Position works independently with considerable freedom of action and is broadly subject to functional policies and ultimate goals.  Manages the compliance of its own assignments and keeps up to date with new industry trends, changing technology and regulations affecting the competitive environment.

• Conducts regular and ad-hoc program reviews with project managers, team and clients.

• Oversees reporting requirements, and creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
• Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors a set of projects within a program.

Additional Information:

  • This position is located in Dallas, TX

  • This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our Dallas, TX office and remote work for the remaining days. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business need

  • Relocation assistance is available

  • Domestic and international travel up to 25%

Summary Pay Range:

$144,960.00 - $217,320.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
