The opportunity: The Senior Data Scientist I role will provide advanced analytics support within the Business Analytics function that applies the power of data with machine learning to improve business outcomes across the Health and Risk Solutions business. This role is expected to work closely with the other functional teams, in particular the Clinical 360, PinnacleCare and Health Capability teams. This position reports to the Associate Director, Data Science within the Health and Risk Solutions business. Responsibilities include development, monitoring and maintenance of the predictive models to support such use cases as identifying members for our clinical review process, identifying health capability opportunities, and/or proactive outreach for health navigation engagement.  Additional responsibilities may include applying machine learning techniques to streamline and automate aspects of these processes and promoting adoption of analytic solutions deployed.

How you will contribute:

  • Apply data science techniques to solve business problems across a broad range of data analysis functions including predictive analysis, data modeling, visualization, and data profiling.
  • Utilize multiple sources of data, including structured and unstructured data, along with broad range of machine learning techniques to improve insights of the models.
  • Support the development of new modeling techniques and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, robust predictive models using advanced analytic techniques.
  • Extract and analyze internal and external data sources to help answer key business problems related to risk assessment.

What you will bring with you:

  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • Proficiency with a one or more statistical programming languages, applications and data environments (e.g., Python, SQL, R, Tableau).
  • BS/MS or PhD in a statistical, mathematical, or technical field (e.g., computer science, actuarial science).
  • 4+ years of experience in developing and implementing data science techniques.
  • Healthcare Claims data or health insurance experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of data science including conditioning, modeling, and visualization.
  • Strong knowledge of the fundamental statistical and AI underpinnings of data science.
  • Expertise in data munging, transformation, and featurization using Healthcare datasets.

  • Southern California region: $95,200-$142,800 annually
  • Central California region: $100,400-$150,600 annually
  • Northern California region: $107,400-$161,100 annually

If you are a Colorado or Nevada resident, the salary range for this position is $90,900-$136,400 annually

If you are a Connecticut or Maryland resident, the salary range for this position is $95,200-$142,800 annually

If you are Washington or Rhode Island resident, the salary range for this position is $100,400-$150,600 annually

If you are a New York resident, the salary range for this position is $107,400-$161,100 annually
