Job Description:
Wheeled Product Engineering (WPE) takes pride in developing machine subsystems for Caterpillar’s Wheeled Mining products. With development teams and assembly facilities spread across the globe, the organization presents an amazing opportunity to develop your career and expand your knowledge – technically and culturally! As the Engineering Manager of the Articulated Truck (ATK) WPE Engine/Power Installation & Cooling (E/PIC) and Hydraulic Installation (HYI) team, you will be leading the team that is responsible for the design and development of power and hydraulic systems installations on Caterpillar Articulated Trucks. In this role, you will manage a team of engineers in the UK while providing guidance to engineering partner organizations in India, the US, and Romania. You will interact and develop strategies with both leaders in WPE and in the ATK Product teams to ensure that our Articulated Trucks meet and exceed the future requirements of our customers. Responsibilities/Job Duties

•   Directly manage a team of engineers in the United Kingdom, providing technical and developmental guidance in the design, development, and build of power/cooling systems and hydraulic installations for trucks being assembled in Peterlee, UK.

•   Coach the team to develop both their technical expertise and their careers at Caterpillar.

•   Manage / coordinate resources from global engineering partners to ensure successful execution of projects.

•   Participate in the development of strategy at the division level for improved product and product development processes.

•   Coordinate the E/PIC and HYI quality improvement efforts for Articulated Trucks. This includes guiding the team to develop interim and permanent improvements.

•   Work with the WPE E/PIC and HYI Technical Experts to develop “best practice” processes and tools to enable sustainable improvement and excellence in product development.

•   Collaborate with Product and Factory teams to establish team and program priorities.

•   Manage an annual development budget of up to $3M.

What you will have:

•   Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

•   Extensive experience in Engineering

•   Significant experience in Product Development

•   Significant team or project leadership experience

Top Candidates Will have:

•   Management or supervision experience

•   Experience with engine and/or cooling installation design and/or development

•   Experience with hydraulic components, systems, or installation design and/or development

•   Experience in performing or managing quality improvement efforts

•   High financial acumen and experience managing budgets

•   Familiarity with manufacturing and machine assembly processes

Additional Information:

  • The primary location for this position is Peterlee, UK
  • Travel will be up to 20%
  • Salary: £73,440 - £91,789
  • Hours: Full Time - 36.50
