Job Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under supervision of the AVP Innovation, the Innovation Project Manager interfaces daily with members of the Innovation team, in the effective management of various division projects and project reporting. Supports project activities with other business areas, identifying appropriate stakeholders (ie: Procurement, IT, Legal, Marketing) and coordinates initiatives on behalf of the team and/or individual initiatives. Supports testing and implementation of new and emerging technology initiatives, as well as new business processes designed to help the airport deliver on its promise of “Travel. Transformed.” The Innovation Project Manager will actively lead and direct cross-functional teams, work with external vendors, and ensure program/project objectives, milestones and quality measures are completed on time and on budget.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and develop project plans, assignments, tasks and project reporting.
  • Monitors progress and implementation status to management using project management tools.
  • Create presentations in support of ongoing innovation programs, using data and actional insights to build the business case
  • Manage monthly reporting; ensures project-specific milestones are scheduled accordingly, holding team accountable for key deliverables in concert with program and executive expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal consultants, cross-functional team members and external partners on new initiatives
  • Provide collaboration/support during the discovery/scoping stage of projects to ensure standards and expectations are met (includes support for budget estimation and business case development)
  • Responsible for keeping team templates and process maps current and organized; provides assistance to internal innovators across the enterprise
  • Support Innovation Team’s thought leadership commitment by organizing speaker topics and event preparation requirements.
  • Manages contract relationships with research providers ensuring distribution of relevant trend reports and relevant budget planning.
  • Provide tactical support to ad hoc division projects (employee ideation events, innovation workshops, etc)
  • Manages standard cadence of communication to internal community vis a vis Microsoft Teams group and other internal platforms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.

· 5 years’ experience in project management, product development or innovation function.

· Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above on a year-for-year basis.

· Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Experience with project management tools and their effective use in managing projects.

· Understanding of project management principles.

· Ability to manage multiple projects across multi-disciplinary teams to successfully complete projects.

· Demonstrated ability to produce reports and weekly updates to management.

· Skilled in relationship management to coordinate, manage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders – strong communicator and collaborator.

· Ability to work through undefined, complex situations.

· High tolerance for ambiguity and experience working to define solutions and maximize business opportunity – must be flexible in approach to solving problems.

· Detail-oriented and acts with a sense of urgency.

· Ability to roll up sleeves to get the job done, not easily dissuaded by obstacles or challenges, able to find alternative solutions to resolve problems, forward thinking, and positive.

· Ability to learn quickly new subjects and technologies – desire and willingness to learn.

· Awareness and interest in new and emerging technologies (ie: autonomous vehicles, biometrics, artificial intelligence, and all things digital).

· Ability to present and influence decisions of others.

· Ability to manage programs within highly regulated industries.

· Ability to write requests for proposals (RFP), develop scopes of work (SOW), and reporting of contractual information.

· Ability to create dashboards and maintenance in Tableau, Power BI or equivalent.

· Ability to write executive summaries and research findings.

DESIRED:

· PMP® Certification or equivalent.

· Experience managing complex projects.

EFFORT:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels internally and externally.

· Skilled at Excel, PowerPoint and various digital technologies.

· Works in an office environment and periodic field operations when deploying solutions across the airport

· Uses substantial reasoning in problem solving

· Drives to locations on and off airport property
