What you’ll do;
The Lead Engineer - Materials would be responsible for the day to day operation of the lab tests including lab operations, overseeing the projects, managing team technical deliverables, quality and safety procedures. This position also requires interaction with external customers in the region.
- Perform lab analysis: Metallurgical procedures including documentation as required
- Be a point of contact for the test procedure development of field samples, as per the
regional/business needs.
- Work closely with Facility management, Safety Team & Finance operations.
- Meet the safety goals, quality and Lab operational targets of KTC.
- Upgrade or update processes time to time as per ASTM or international procedures as
applicable.
- Upgrade knowledge as needed time to time and come up with ideas of simplification
- Calibrate and maintain the associated testing equipment as per ISO procedures
- Report the results in a timely fashion to associated stakeholders
- Carry out and maintain GE specific and other needed certifications of the testing equipment
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures for the testing equipment within the GE EHS and quality framework
- Work with the lab engineers/technicians in the regular EHS and other audits, maintain logs and close the open issues
- Work on preparing customer Proposals, submit budgetary offers
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications);
- Bachelor/Masters in engineering in Metallurgy/Mechanical/Materials or in the related technical disciplines
- 5+ years of experience in handling testing procedures, compiling data and writing reports
- Experience in handling analytical test equipment, metallurgical lab work using different microscopy, hardness, heat treatment etc.
- Working with internal and external customers, for analysis projects and reporting process
- Knowledge of ASTM specifications of mechanical testing and certification procedures
- Knowledge of ISO quality control procedures
- Eagerness to learn and develop
- Good presentation and communication skills in English
What will make you stand out;
- Familiarity with Lean and 5S process
- Knowledge of margin calculations
- Exposure to failure analysis of metallic parts and understanding of the metallurgical inspection procedures.
- Knowledge and/ experience in chemical safety and SDS procedures for different chemicals/processes.
- Good knowledge in lab testing, characterization equipment such as SEM , XRF, XRD, heat treatment and calibration procedures.
- Knowledge in R&R process and charts.
- Operation knowledge with fluid analysis and awareness with lube oil testing procedures.
- Knowledge of lab quality certification and documentation, including ISO 9001 & ISO 17025.
