At the Cleveland Clinic Florida Department of Imaging, our team has the skills and expertise to provide the full spectrum of imaging services. From routine scans to in-depth evaluations, patients have access to every imaging test they may need within our health system. We use advanced technology and equipment that allow us to offer imaging services with precision and accuracy.
A caregiver in this position works 8:00am – 4:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct patient care, CT/MRI procedures and safety.
Promote a patient/customer driven philosophy, exhibiting positive behavior that supports and enhances customer satisfaction.
Have knowledge of sterile and non-sterile techniques involved in all aspects of the CT/MRI department operations including dispensing of department stock, stocking rooms daily, preparing oral contrast and exam data entry.
Ensure rooms are set up properly prior to beginning of procedure and clean rooms in a timely manner post-procedure.
Report any change in patient's condition or behavior.
Ensure patient modesty and comfort, assist patients with changing and answer call lights as appropriate.
Ensure the patient is discharged to the appropriate destination.
Check proper identification of patient per policy and create patient identification bands.
Assist in positioning, lifting, and transporting of patients.
Prepare oral contrast.
Schedule scans and watch the queue.
Verify physician exam orders, look at needs of patient and initiate communication and inpatient flow.
Respect the confidentiality of patient records.
Document patient history, condition and any other pertinent information on requisition/history sheet and ensure all data is entered into the computer on day of exam, including nonprocedural changes, additional exams, and order revision.
Remain knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting and printing images via PACS, when applicable, and in after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
Perform front desk administrative duties, answer phones and questions, and maintain department files.
Take responsibility for personal and patient radiation safety/MRI safety.
Follow Radiation/MRI Safety Guidelines.
Operate all equipment properly and with care, immediately report any malfunctions, necessary adjustments, or repairs and complete necessary documentation.
Maintain ethical and professional relationships.
Assess the patient's readiness and need for learning, considering all aspects of diversity and inclusion.
Provide verbal and/or written instructions for tests/procedures, diagnoses, and discharge when appropriate.
Document what education has been delivered, patient's response and collaboration with any members of the health care team in coordination of care.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED with an emphasis on communication, computer skills and science courses.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
One year of healthcare experience.
Current radiology students are eligible.
