Medical Payer Strategy Manager

What you will do

The US Medical Capabilities & Strategy Manager role provides guidance and strategic support to the Medical Value & Population Health organization by optimizing the field experience through Field Effectiveness, Field Operations, Field Systems and Capabilities Elevation.

In this vital role as the Medical Capabilities & Strategy Manager, MVPH you will play a crucial part in coordinating and leading projects to ensure the MVPH team operates with high efficiency. You will support the Executive Director and TA Heads in implementing strategies and initiatives that drive field effectiveness, customer impact and ensure cohesive execution across the Medical & Commercial teams.

  • Assist in the integration and alignment of MVPH effectiveness initiatives, ensuring seamless coordination and communication within the team and with cross-functional partners
  • Implement decisions to increase the effectiveness of MVPH through regular complex analysis, optimization of business processes, and the use of effective tools and techniques
  • Partner closely with cross-functional colleagues, including US Market Access Marketing, Contracting and Trade (MAMCT), Scientific Communications, Regulatory, Compliance, Law, Performance Management Operations, US TA Leads / MSL Managers to develop and implement consistent and effective US Medical Value & Population Health and Field Medical processes
  • Identify issues and opportunities related to Medical Value fundamentals, and work with stakeholders to propose and align on FME initiatives to build engagement fundamentals and improve productivity, aligned to goals & metrics
  • Independently manage and coordinate special projects and initiatives (e.g., MVPH roles, responsibilities, & structure, launch readiness, Pilot test and learns) to drive MVPH productivity and efficiency
  • Responsible for implementing initiatives that enhance the impact of FM (Field Medical) primarily in the focus area of payer and population health decision makers (PHDM)
  • Leadership over all aspects related to field engagement in payer and PHDM focus, including defining, implementing and maintaining processes and reporting and enhancing value proposition in support of US Field Medical and Medical Value & Population Health
  • Support the development and execution of MVPH engagement & effectiveness strategies and programs, implementing tactical plans that enhance impact
  • Collaborate with leadership, US Analytics, Reporting, and other key stakeholders to develop robust ELL metrics and dashboards; regularly assess performance metrics to identify areas for improvement
  • Lead & plan cohesion team meetings to ensure that all initiatives and changes are effectively managed across Sci Comm, Analytics, SPOs and systems teams
  • Monitor Medical industry trends and marketplace developments through subscriptions to stay ahead changing Payer customer capabilities & business needs
  • Future focus with regular horizon scanning for aspects related to External Scientific Engagement in payer and PHDM space
  • Serve as the MVPH POC for designated cross-functional medical and commercial teams for prioritized meetings, updates, and ongoing strategy (examples include QMR, planning and execution of MVPH live & virtual meetings, operational activities) as designated by MVPH Lead
  • Participate in and be responsible for administrative departmental activities such as budgets, resources, staffing needs for specified products
  • Support and partner on projects with vendors, MVPH and cross-functional departments as assigned by the MVPH Lead or TA leadership (examples include the Value Based partnerships, Implementation Science proposals, MVPH Feedback Survey, AI projects)

Develop a deep enough understanding of US Medical & MVPH priorities with fluency on the most important initiatives to advance aspects of them with relevant stakeholders, on MVPH Lead’s behalf, demonstrating leadership abilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree

OR

  • Master’s degree & 3 years of Medical Affairs experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of Medical Affairs experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of proven experience in sales analytics, field effectiveness or life sciences management consulting, and/or field sales within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Strategic Planning and Process Optimization: Ability to assess current operations, identify challenges and/or opportunities, and implement improvements
  • Prioritized Agenda & Annual Goals: Data Analysis and Reporting: Ability to collect, process, and interpret data to track ELL, impact, progress to goals and identify opportunities for growth
  • Project Management: Ability to lead cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, and implement improvements to MVPH operations processes
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to proactively convey complex data and strategies in a clear and persuasive manner, as well as the capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with the Medical team, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders
  • Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to advise on input for Insights Generation relating to payer/PHDM, diagnose business issues and incorporate into development or adjustment of strategies, plans and tactics to achieve business objectives
  • Role model and implement a positive culture of cross-functional partnerships, with a solution-oriented approach

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
