What You Will Achieve
Reporting to the Groton Site Affairs Head, the Communications Lead will partner with Site Affairs, the Groton Site Head, Corporate Communications and the CT Leadership team to provide engaging and effective communication for site information and change initiatives related to business. This role will be responsible for executing key elements of the day-to-day site communication activities as well will be the senior partner to lead coordinated communication channels and information for the CT sites, including Groton and New Haven. Providing highly visual site communications, regular and ad hoc content, including site Sharepoint homepage, digital communication boards, weekly newsletter, covering scientific and nonscientific content. A member of the Groton Extended Leadership team, they will also participate on the Site’s Crisis Management teams to provide critical and timely communications. They will serve on cross-site projects and will assist locally to provide support for site events and programs.
How You Will Achieve It
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal Communications
- Write, edit, and prepare internal communications including site emails, notices, newsletters, intranet information, training materials and employee meeting invites while recommending and maintaining Pfizer policy and branding guidelines.
- Lead design and coordinate across the Groton and New Haven sites with graphic designs and final proofs, coordinating production and distribution of materials.
- Assist in maintaining consistency in visual branding across site in line with site’s communication strategy and Pfizer branding requirements and initiatives.
- Establish the Groton internal communication policies & implement an education campaign to align and consolidate communication channels.
- Represent the CT sites on the cross enterprise Engagement Communicators Network or other limited duration teams and identify opportunities to align site and network communications efforts.
- Manage implementation of specific site communication projects/work streams as part of long-term site communication strategy through active partnership with key stakeholders
- Monitor and analyze metrics to identify continuous improvement opportunities; partner with key stakeholders to share progress and propose continuous improvement ideas
- Support ideation and implementation of site colleague engagement programming and community events as needed.
External Communications
- Responsible for external communications to local news outlets, and local and state-level government leaders and organizations
- Coordinate with Corporate Communications to ensure consistent and aligned messaging to support and enhance Pfizer’s reputation in CT
- Partner with CT site leadership to create talking points and messaging as they engage with local organizations eg Univ of CT, CTBio, Town of Groton
- Partner with Pfizer’s State Government Relations team to coordinate onsite visits to educate key lawmakers and state policy advisors on our work
Qualifications
- Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree with 5-8 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree with 2-3 years of relevant experience
- Prior communications experience in pharmaceutical or biotech
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with graphic design, web design, copywriting and copy editing
- Demonstrated proficiency with Canva and Microsoft suite of software
- Proof reading with a keen attention to detail
- Strong business acumen, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively develop creative ideas and new approaches to solve communication challenges.
- Self-starter mentality, with ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to counsel and influence various levels across the organization, from entry level to senior leaders.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, multi-cultural and diverse environment.

Work Location Assignment: On Premise (onsite Groton, CT)
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $88,300.00 to $147,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
