The Information Technology team equips our colleagues with the latest tools to complete their work efficiently and with the highest standards of excellence. The team is responsible for shielding the company’s systems from security risks, while designing technology strategies that enable AIG’s businesses to achieve their goals. AIG’s Information Technology functions include enterprise architecture, software and systems engineering, cybersecurity, and technology risk and compliance.

About the role

The Head of Cyber Security Engineering is responsible for leading company-wide efforts to develop and continuously improve cyber security engineering capabilities for the Global AIG footprint.  This role requires a seasoned leader with a proven track record of building and managing high-performing, diverse security engineering teams.  This is a critical role in the organization addressing the evolving threat landscape, including advanced persistent threats, ransomware, insider threats, and supply chain vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance on the company’s overall security strategy, services, and practices, aligning cybersecurity initiatives with the organization’s business objectives.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity engineering strategy that aligns with AIG’s overall security posture and business objectives.
  • Streamline the tactical and strategic goals of security engineering. Primary areas of focus will be (1) Endpoint Security; (2) Data Security; (3) Cloud Security; (4) Security Architecture; (5) Network Security, (5) Email Security.
  • Direct management responsibility for a team of Engineering leaders and subject matter experts, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to deliver effective cybersecurity solutions.
  • Provide guidance on overall company security strategy, services, and practices, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk management, and business units, to integrate security considerations into all aspects of the organization.

Requirements

  • Ten plus years of managerial experience in the Financial Services or equivalent in a regulated industry vertical, specifically with information technology and information security.
  • Bachelor’s degree or significant experience with Cyber Security.
  • Experience in managing global teams and/or across time zones.
  • Experience with 2 or more of these disciplines:  Network Security, Cloud Security, Data Security, Endpoint Security.

Preferred

  • Intimate knowledge of the financial services threat landscape, along with expertise in cloud security models and the ability to assess enterprise security controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with delivering operational briefings and presentations to executive management, regulators, and business partners.
  • Self-motivated, directed, and detail oriented.
  • Experience operating in a global environment including familiarity with privacy regulations.
