We are looking for a Senior Advisor - Reporting & Research to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for researching and assessing the impact of new and sophisticated accounting transactions and their impact to accounting and financial reporting.

This position will support the accounting research function, completion of the month end close process, general accounting transactions, as well as assisting Corporate Financial Reporting in coordinating and preparing the annual and interim management’s discussion and analysis, consolidated financial documents, and other external reporting for Enbridge Gas Inc (EGI).

What You Will Do:

  • Support the accounting research function, including the assessment of accounting treatment for complex transactions and the implementation of new accounting standards at Enbridge Gas Inc (EGI) and gas distribution affiliates

  • Prepare detailed accounting memos and position papers to conclude on complex financial analysis, ensuring detailed documentation and support for accounting decisions and positions.

  • Coordinate with the Enterprise Accounting Research and Corporate Accounting groups on the accounting approach and support for complex transactions, ensuring that accounting issues and requirements are appropriately reflected and disclosed in the financial reporting documents.

  • Advise various EGI departments and Gas Distribution affiliates as to the application of new accounting standards and appropriate methods of accounting for new transactions and events.

  • Through documentation, presentations and group discussions, be the 'go-to' professional for all technical interpretation of US GAAP and IFRS, as required.

  • Assist Corporate Financial Reporting in coordination, preparation, analysis and reporting of the annual and interim external management’s discussion and analysis, financial statements for EGI provided to senior management, Enbridge Inc., the Board of Directors, securities regulators, securities analysts and investors.

  • Coordinate with the corporate financial reporting groups to build and maintain processes to financial reporting and compliance with Canadian and U.S. securities law requirements.

  • Support the Gas Distribution & Storage segment reporting for Enbridge Inc.’s external financial documents.

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to ensure the year-end processes are completed effectively and efficiently.

  • Monitor and evaluate U.S. GAAP and securities regulations to ensure that EGI and gas distribution affiliates are in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

  • Support the completion of the month end close processes and general accounting transactions, including assisting with the external reporting of the consolidated results of EGI. This involves detailed planning and coordination with various departments across Enbridge.

  • Support the preparation of financial documents for one Canadian reporting issuer filed in accordance with the rules and regulations of Canadian Securities Administrators
     

Who You Are:

Required:

  • University degree in a business or commerce/accounting program

  • A recognized accounting designation (CPA) with 6 or more years accounting experience

  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP and solid understanding of IFRS

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Results oriented and able to work under tight deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of internal controls, SOX.

  • Good understanding of business and industry trends

  • Strong ability to interpret complex transactions

  • Proven teammate, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships, while demonstrating a high level of cooperation and mutual respect

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to handle multiple deadlines concurrently

  • High level of personal and professional integrity
     

Preferred:

  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, HFM, Smart View, PowerBI an asset

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
