The Associate Director of FP&A is a key functional leader within the Finance organization who acts as a strategic partner to senior editorial and commercial stakeholders, owns critical planning processes, and leads a team responsible for delivering high-impact financial insights.
This leadership role is designed for high organizational impact — combining strong analytical rigor, business partnership, and people leadership. The Associate Director will operate as a deputy to the Senior Director of FP&A and a key member of the extended CFO leadership team, driving both execution and forward-looking strategy.

Financial Planning & Forecasting
Lead consolidation effort around monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, speed, and transparency
Maintain and improve driver-based financial models to support revenue and cost planning
Identify risks and opportunities, proactively updating forecasts and communicating implications, in collaboration with other FP&A leaders
Strategic Business Partnership
Partner with leaders across editorial, product, advertising, and subscription teams to inform decision-making around our content strategy in News and Opinions
Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights that shape business strategy
Challenge assumptions and elevate thinking to improve resource allocation and ROI
Performance Management & Reporting
Oversee management reporting, variance analysis, and KPI tracking
Deliver concise, executive-ready materials for senior leadership
Continuously improve reporting frameworks to enhance clarity and speed
Team Leadership & Development
Manage and develop a team of FP&A analysts
Foster a high-performance culture focused on ownership, speed, and influence
Coach team members on financial modeling, storytelling, and business partnership skills
Process Improvement & Scaling
Drive enhancements in planning processes, systems, and tools (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive, Excel models).
Streamline workflows to increase efficiency and enable faster decision-making.
Embrace AI and automation to help future proof core FP&A techniques and processes
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, or consulting
Prior people management experience required (3+ years)
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Demonstrated track record of owning planning processes and influencing business decisions
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and develop actionable insights
Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
Advanced financial modeling and forecasting capabilities
Experience with FP&A systems (e.g., Oracle Hyperion, Planful) and data tools (e.g. Tableau)
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, or consulting
Prior people management experience (5+ years)
Experience at a Fortune 500 company and/or digital media organization strongly preferred
MBA, CFA, or CPA
SQL/BI tools a plus

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.
The salary range for this position is:
$130,300 - $242,100 AnnualThe actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
