The Opportunity
The IT Sr. Project Manager position works out of our Lake County, IL or St. Paul, MN location in the BTS division. As the IT Sr. Project Manager, you will work with across Manufacturing Execution Systems platforms within the Abbott landscape.
The successful candidate in this position must be a trusted business partner and enabler, who demonstrates mastery in all aspects and phases of large-scale application development and project management, vendor management, and validated systems implementations. This position requires strong leadership capabilities, an executive presence, and the ability to simultaneously think and act strategically and tactically to balance long-term planning in parallel with flawless execution. The IT Sr. Project Manager will lead project and delivery activities that require collaboration with Business Partners and Information Technology Resources to successfully deliver solutions and ensure value is achieved.
What You'll Work On
Ownership and Execution/ Outcomes
- Lead a large project delivery or functional area within an overall program as the owner of that area’s performance and outcomes.
- Interface with senior management on significant matters often requiring the coordination of activity across organization units.
- Partner with senior product and program team, to plan and organize milestones.
- Initiates or maintains schedule for projects and program milestones.
- Establishes priorities of project teams, selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion.
- Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking schedules, identifying risks and developing and executing contingency plans.
- Provide project management consultation and mentorship of the various project phases and the deliverables such as: development and execution of the project schedules; baselines; analyzing critical paths; schedule management; resource planning; risk/issue identification and control; project change requests; weekly and monthly status reporting.
- Resolve project issues by working with product managers, customers, and partners.
- Measures performance to assure the project is progressing as compared to original plan and budget.
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
Strategy and Collaboration
- Liaise with manufacturing partners for aligning on vision, outcomes, goals, roadmaps, business case.
- Draft creation of project plans, estimate project effort, resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools and by working with appropriate staff to understand scope and effort.
- Represent the voice of the customer within the organization; understand the user experience, and the evolving needs and workflows of our customers in the digital age.
- Provide support for Project Capital spending requests including delivery estimates.
Coaching
- Supervises, motivates and mentor cross-functional /cross divisional project team of project managers, business analysts, developers, and validation analysts.
- Ensure project team adheres to philosophy and culture of lean, iterative mindset with quality focus.
- Generate ideas to improve team efficiency, effectiveness, and impact.
- Motivate and coach the team to reach goals and achieve deliverables.
- Assist in continuing to develop and implement standard project management process methods and provide training of these methods to ensure uniform delivery practices.
Communication
- Communicate project status, by preparing standard status reports and participating in departmental, program and project status updates meetings.
- Communicates project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support information to Project Team, Division, Cross Division and Executive management.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating a commitment to business priorities and high performance.
- Communicates with the team, program, product leadership and key stakeholders frequently and effectively.
Minimum Experience/Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 7-10 years’ experience in either project management, software development or deployment, OR manufacturing operations.
- IT and Manufacturing/Engineering Project management experience in large or midsized. multinational Health Care, Medical Device, or Consumer Goods organization preferred.
- Experience with GxP validation/ Compliance.
- Experience navigating large organizations and an understanding of complex stakeholder relationships is a must.
- Strong leadership skills and a passion for translating findings into strategic recommendations
- Proven ability to design and optimize processes.
- Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action.
- Ability to define areas of potential value through user research, market research, and industry / technical understanding.
- Ability to look at a set of needs across the business and identify key questions, themes, and potential for business impact.
- Mature communicator capable of ruthless prioritization, gracious compromise, and quick decision-making.
Preferred:
- Previous experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems.
- Broad and deep knowledge in Supply Chain business processes and technologies with a focus in Manufacturing Systems.
- Working knowledge of the following systems is desired: Siemens Opcenter, POMS, SAP, Infinity QS Proficient SPC, Rockwell Factory Talk, Emerson.
- Commercial experience and/or healthcare experience considered a plus.
- PMP, Prince2 certification is considered a plus.
