Job Description

In Geotechnics we provide marine geotechnical services to determine and manage the ground risk associated with marine project development. Using technical expertise, advanced exploration tools, field and laboratory testing, computer simulations, and quantitative methods, we identify, evaluate and resolve your geotechnical design challenges.

The Rig Mechanic - Marine carries out the maintenance and repair of Fugro equipment as directed by the Drill Supervisor in a cost-effective manner. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Responsible for the daily and periodical maintenance of the Drill Spread and associated equipment.
  • Install/assemble mechanical equipment and machinery as required.
  • Works closely with the Driller and Drill Supervisor to ensure the mechanical equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain records of work carried out and complete all PPMs promptly as directed and issued by the Drill Supervisor.
  • Ensures all protective guards and safety devices are in place on equipment in use.
  • Be proactive with preventative and corrective maintenance on all equipment under his responsibility.
  • Troubleshoot where necessary and complete corrective action to maximize running time.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent, with completion of a Mechanical Technical School program focusing on gasoline and diesel engines and hydraulic systems being highly desirable.
  • 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience with mechanical and hydraulic equipment maintenance, and electrical equipment knowledge would be beneficial.
  • A working knowledge of shop equipment and tools capable of welding non-stress equipment.
  • An understanding of gasoline and diesel engines, drill rigs, compressors, pumps, and specialized equipment relating to the industry.
