Job Summary
The Senior Director Innovations Sales and Partnerships will identify partners and negotiate partnership and technology sales agreements for Cleveland Clinic Innovations.
Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Actively sell Cleveland Clinic innovations to potential licensees, and partnership opportunities to potential industry collaborators.
- Responsible for training / overseeing & supporting less experienced members of the Sales & Partnerships team.
- Responsible for a high volume of technologies.
- Attend medical and venture capital conferences to identify suitable partners.
- Build relationships with corporate partners and obtain access to their R&D dashboards and strategic agendas.
- Obtain and share healthcare market knowledge with inventors and team.
- Identify opportunities with venture capitalists and other partners; engage local partners (Cleveland Innovation District) to develop mutually beneficial relationships.
- Lead special projects and evaluate external technologies.
- Work with Cleveland Clinic Innovations Development Team to identify and prioritize technologies that are in the internal pipeline, and communicate feedback on current industry needs.
- Work with Cleveland Clinic Innovations Licensing Team on closing license deals for Cleveland Clinic innovations.
- Track and report on sales agreements, commercial partnerships, and brand growth.
- Integrate with and support all teams.
- Uphold compliance to regulatory requirements in all areas of operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in life or physical sciences, biomedical engineering, finance, business or other related field.
- An advanced degree in business administration and/or legal (JD, MBA, or JD, MBA) is preferred. This may be offset by significant experience working for a large academic medical institution or healthcare business.

- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with academic and corporate sectors and comprehend details of new and diverse technologies.
- Must be a self-starter with strong work ethics and excellent marketing and negotiation skills.
- Must have demonstrated comfort with multi-tasking and the ability to meet deadlines with limited supervision.
- Must work well in a cross-functional team setting.
Work Experience:
- A minimum 7 years of relevant experience in health care industry (medical devices, therapeutics, diagnostics, HIT).
- Minimum 7 years of demonstrated success in team participation.
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated success in healthcare industry sales.
- Significant experience with governmental medical technology funding opportunities preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
- May require periods of sitting, standing and the ability to walk to various locations throughout the health system to attend meetings.
- Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.
