Job Title: Senior Scrum Master, IT

Department: Information Technology

FLSA: Exempt

Position Overview:

The Senior Scrum Master is one of the key individuals responsible for leading through a methodical approach to planning, executing, and controlling projects from start to finish. The Senior Scrum Master demonstrates ownership and guides teams through project execution, and ensures consistent practices are followed throughout all phases of the project life cycle and across project functional teams. In the role of a Senior Scrum Master, he/she will collaborate with multiple product owners, organize, and lead complex projects, define project scopes, schedules, and deliverables, and prepare regular reports and metrics for the project. Provides coaching and leadership on Agile principles to the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage large teams in a collaborative environment, completing project deliverables according to deadlines and specifications.
  • Facilitates the removal of impediments - Many issues can be beyond the team's control or require assistance from other teams. A Scrum Master assists the team in addressing and resolving these issues to improve the chances of achieving the objectives of the iteration.
  • Promoting Agile quality practices - guiding teams to continually improve their deliverables and achieve the Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Builds a high-performing team - Focuses on enhancing team dynamics and performance and coaches the team in self-management.
  • Resolves conflict and challenges within the team and identifies opportunities for growth.
  • Ensures organizational effectiveness – Works with other Scrum Masters to ensure effective implementation of Scrum across the organization.
  • Assists the team in embracing Agile Values, adopting Agile Principles, and implementing Agile processes.
  • Reports on performance metrics and facilitates the team's progress towards its goals.
  • Champions quality and technical excellence in the Scrum Team.
  • Creates the project plan, the risk mitigation plan, the communication plan, and determines the resources required for the project.
  • Facilitates Scrum ceremonies including the Release Planning Workshops. Effectively organize JIRA, organizing the programs/ projects for easy accessibility and reporting.
  • Adhere to all regulatory agency standards, company quality standards, and corporate policies.
  • Available to travel as business needs demand (less than 5%)
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • BS in an IT-related discipline such as Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, remote teams and external contractors.
  • Strong understanding of Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry practices.
  • Understanding of patient data privacy requirements and impacts to systems and processes.
  • At least ten years of IT Project Management or Scrum Master Experience.
  • Experience with SDLC or Agile project implementation methodologies.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong working knowledge of leading programs in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • A demonstrated track record of managing programs in a complex cross-functional environment.
  • An action-oriented self-starter capable of guiding complex projects with minimal oversight or guidance.
  • Strong functional business knowledge, including Quality, CRM, Supply Chain, and Operations.
  • Capability to lead system implementations, including scheduling meetings, monitoring, and resolving issues.
  • Ability to be empathetic, yet firm, with challenging customers, and to be persistent in reminding customers and implementers of outstanding action items.
  • Good judgment and the capacity to independently evaluate situations and identify the optimum course of action.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple teams on concurrent projects.
  • Highly organized with excellent communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Solid presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project standards.
  • Experience with SDLC processes and business analysis methodologies.
  • Positive, results driven, rational, logical, team player.
  • Proficient in the following computer software applications: MS Office products, Jira, Confluence, Sharepoint, Clarity. Capability to apply Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe)
