As a Principal Data Engineer within the Enterprise Data Office, you will be a key leader in the Data Platform team driving forward the design, implementation, and adoption of best-in-class data solutions. You’ll play a critical role in shaping and evolving the data ecosystem, working with, and enabling, cross-functional teams across the organization to efficiently design and build data-oriented systems at scale.

 

You will be a key contributor to enabling our mission of foundational-data-excellence through your thought leadership and leadership by example. As a principal, you will mentor associates sharing your considerable expertise and experience, application of standards, principles, and practices, applying high standards that you set for yourself and others, and establishing a continuous learning and improvement culture.

  • You have 10+ years developing and delivering best-in-class data solutions that meet the complex and evolving needs of a modern business, ideally in Financial Services.

  • You have deep understanding of modern data platforms and cloud architectures and apply that understanding to design and implement secure and scalable cloud-based data platforms.

  • You have hands on experience designing and implementing solutions using languages such as Python, SQL, and/or Java using frameworks such as Spark/DataBricks, DBT, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and related services such as Airflow, Data Quality frameworks, etc. Experience with languages such as Rust or C++ in addition to the above is a plus.

  • You have expertise designing, developing, deploying, and monitoring data pipelines, APIs, and query serving technologies that meet performance and reliability service level agreements for various classes of workload including real-time, ad-hoc, and batch. Your thoughtful application of patterns and practices supported by well-reasoned standards produce reliable and efficient solutions to complex problems.

  • You have proven yourself as a leader that can guide and mentor engineering teams, fostering an innovative, collaborative culture of continuous improvement and excellence. You enable engineering teams to build optimal data solutions leveraging the platforms you design and build.

  • You have experience working with product management, architecture, engineering leaders and business stakeholders to translate business problems, strategies, and objectives into technical solutions and strategic roadmaps that solves a class of problem that address not only specific features but align with and support broader organizational goals.

  • You have excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and verbal skills.

  • You are an agile learner and stay abreast of modern practices and trends in data solutions.

  • You are not only talented as an individual contributor, but are, above all, an amplifier of the talent in others

Southern California Base Salary Range: $217,648-$370,002

San Antonio Base Salary Range: $196,008-$333,214

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
