Job Description​

The Opportunity:  Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City MO is seeking a Surgical Services Support Tech to assist in a Multiskilled role with a primary focus to efficiently and effectively turnover surgical suites. Secondary focus to meet the patient and environmental service needs throughout Surgical Services Perianesthesia and any related areas. The Surgical Services Support Tech at Saint Luke's Hospital works within the organizational structure of the Operating Room and Perianesthesia Departments to assist in the delivery of direct primary care to the patient needing transportation to the Operating Room for surgical intervention.

Position Details: Day Shift Hours:  2-12 hour days (645-1915) Saturday & Sunday – 24 hours per week. Servicing all areas within Surgical Services (Main, Neuro, PeriAneshthesia)

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and prioritize daily activities needed to support surgical services.
  • Organizes workload to complete responsibilities within assigned work schedule.
  • Demonstrates efficient use of downtime
  • Knowledgeable of where department supplies and equipment are stored and can retrieve and replace accordingly.
  • Adequately stocks routine supplies.
  • Pulls surgical supplies from materials department as well as sterile surgical instruments to complete surgery case carts in preparation for the day. 
  • Moves case carts to the OR with required equipment for surgery and sets up the OR suite according to surgeon preference. 
  • Clean surgical rooms, furniture, and equipment after each surgical case.
  • Transport used surgical instruments via case carts to the sterile processing department after surgical case is completed. 
  • Prepare surgical rooms for the next surgical case in accordance with the surgeon preference card.
  • Transport sterile surgical instruments from the sterile processing department to the OR instrument storage room and OR suites as needed, utilizing the instruments scanning/tracking technology. 
  • Checks emergency cart for correct supplies and instruments in accordance with the surgeon call schedule and department policy. 
  • Clean and organize the equipment storage areas on a routine basis.
  • Notify nursing staff of any broken or damaged equipment.
  • Follows and understands instructions, seeks clarification of duties when needed.

Experience:

  • One year of healthcare experience preferred
